Final night of the 2002 celebration, I fucking love this performance, and then later on he does that awesome rendition of GOD.. Some people are like Slinkies...
They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

As psychodelicide and xenon said, Prince played this still unreleased song at the 2002 Celebration. As soon as he started playing it, the crowd immediately erupted in cheer and everyone in attendance simultaneously dropped a lunchbox.
Prince smiled. He knew that we all had the bootleg and loved it. It was a pretty memorable moment. . [Edited 3/15/09 6:11am] If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

He always goes back to it, so why doesn't he release it? Though, had the Gold Experience come out when Prince wanted it to, we would probably have it now. [Edited 3/12/09 14:14pm] Manchester Apollo 1st night. I thought my head was gonna explode with joy! hell yeah....i was there. Couldnt believe my luck when he pulled that one out, that, purple rain & the beautiful ones. I dont think any gig will ever top seeing prince in the apollo, such a small intimate setting. I wish he'd do another tour like that. Empty room is yet another gem that he's never done justice to. I dont care for the studio versions as much as the c-note version (or other live performances). I particularly like the celebaration version with the flute. I always felt a studio version of this would have worked well as the last song on One Night Alone.

That was back in the good old days it seems, back when he had lost his mass appeal, only the die-hards were attending, it was certainly one of the best shows i saw him do. The TRC songs were great live, and to get Empty Room so near the end was the icing. I doubt we'll see a tour as small scale as ONAl again, or at least while he has his 'Star' head on.

I think C-Note's version has the best of his styles, all rolled up in one.

A piece of empty room trivia for you all. The two different studio versions which exist do not share the same piano chord progression.

Yeah that was a truly classic gig a shame that neither of the Manchester ONA gigs ended up on bootleg.
