When it comes to this MJ - Prince comparison too many people STILL seem to makeL i think a lot has to do with superficial perception:

As i said before, they both became superstars in the eighties, they were both 'black' artists who became popular with all kind off folks and races, they both mixed different styles and both showed their eccentric sides.

But when you look beneath those superficialities, you will find the differences: Michael Jackson seems to focus on succes and attention in general: he did succeed with that at the time he had the right producer (Quincy Jones), when he 'used' his appetite for popcorn movies, to create big-budget videoclips like Thriller, but he isnt a musician in the first place.

Prince sometimes (too often, IMO) has the tendency to go for succes with his image and provocations, like he is thinking: I need all that shit to let the whole world now i am a great musician, composer and arranger.
But in essence, when he doesnt let himself distract too much by that kind of things, he is like the 'obsessed musician' trying to create magic with his sounds and creativity, like the Beatles during their peak period, like Beck during his early years, like Bjork at her best moments, like Miles Davis throughout almost his entire career.

Why are we still on this MJ shit? Sometime I feel like I'm in some other fuckers fansite and not a Prince fansite and that pisses me the fuck off. Wanna talk about MJ or some other fool? Go to their sites for that shit man! This is about Prince and what's going on with Prince going on Leno between now and May and anything else about Prince. Sorry but I had to take it there.

Back to the subject at hand, Prince and Leno are a winning combination and I'm excited that Prince is going to go do the show this many times. He should do another show on May 29th, even though we don't know if there will be any guest for that show. I wouldn't think so remembering how Johnny Carson left in 1992 but who knows? Stay tuned.
