ONA LIVE! A ChristMESS Release? Well since Prince and the NPGMC don't celebrate ChristMESS. Isn't it odd that the timing of the retail release is just in time for the ChristMESS shopping season? Getting delivered to stockings by Satan's Claws? Hmmm?

Good point. | |

Yep. Just because Prince doesnt celebrate Christmas, he sees no need not to make money off the Christmas shopping season. I believe it's called capitalism. Religious fanatics, take note.

To be fair to him, just cos he doesn't celebrate Christmas personally, he knows its still the best time of the year to release something. Espesially when its so expensive...
Satans Claws are still the only way most fools buy CDs... -----------------------------------------

Just because Prince doesn't celebrate Christmas, he knows many others do.
And ONA Live! would make a great Christmas gift. I know of a couple of people who are gonna receive one from me.

Prince proves, once again, that making money IS the only thing he's truly interested in... Just like the rest of us.

To be fair, it's being released on the 17th. If he really wanted to maximize profits, he would've released it right around Thanksgiving. The 17th is a tad late for a lot of shoppers.

Are you just finding out that Prince is hypocritical? "Climb in my fur."

He's the real bloodsucker Actually he sucks up money like a hoover vacuum cleaner.Prince is the Daywalker

Are you saying it would be okay for him to be just another greedy retailier if he liked Christmas?
Ho ho no. Greed is wrong regardless of motive.

Actually if you look at all the other christmas releases, P is a little late in the day. The 17th doesn't leave a lot of time for pre-christmas sales. He would have been better off releasing end November, early December. Christmas is pretty much over by the 17th.

Ho ho no. Greed is wrong regardless of motive. Is it REALLY greed or a halfway decent business decision??? Just curious...

Ho ho no. Greed is wrong regardless of motive. "Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Isnt this the same Prince who questioned the existence of time, when music itself is based on time (tempos, measures, etc...)?

Call me insane, but ehm, isn't December like by far the most
expensive month of the year? So I'd say there are probably a lot of people who'd like to buy it but can't right now because they have to spend a lot of money on other stuff like presents and food and clothes and fcuz on a tree and booze. If I weren't a club member I'd probably still buy it, since I'm an insensitive bastard and would just buy someone else a crap gift so I'd have enough money left for the box set. But decent people probably wouldn't. Shall we stop Over analysing things now Istenszek? I think we'd better Isten. Good, now shut up Szek. Ok IstenSzek. Aaargh. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

yeah BUT it aint comeing out till less than two weeks before christmas. I had thought this befor BUT if those were his intentions it would have came out in early November if not october IF his Plans were for christmas profits. If any thing when all them people take back their gifts or the money they recieve from those who dont know what to get, those people will buy it after the new year.

I wasn't making a judgement on Prince but merely posing a question to the original thread bearer. While I can certainly understand the hurt feelings and anger aroused from how the NPGMC is run, I certainly don't have enough information to conclude that Prince is driven by greed of money. And there's nothing wrong with making money; it's the love of it to the point of it taking over your life that will ultimately bring ruin.

But you dont hear me though. You're right, nobody said anything about "offing" people. Greed definitely, like everything else, serves a purpose. You could argue that way endless about anything. I just personally want to strive to avoid it. Do I manage to do that? Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. I’m working to get better at it; that's how I strive to evolve. Sometimes hurting people is inevitable, though, so I agree with a lot of what you say. For example, sometimes after everything else has been tried a good company run by good people still has to make that painful decision of laying people off. But the difference is, people that are driven by greed axe these folks without a second thought, because they are just numbers standing in the way of more money. Believe me, I'm NO hippie.

that is the outocme of living in a capatilistic society--everyone denounces socialism or social services etc..but then when the hand of capatilism swings its big hand then there's a foul stench in the air..you cant have it all. Thats the danger of capatalism..not "greed". Oliver went to the head master at lunchtime and said "please sir...I want some more". "Climb in my fur."

This is just my opinion but if he wanted to do a proper Christmas release to cash in, he would have released it in November (specifically, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving). People only have a week to find this set and I highly doubt that online retailers could get it do your door fast enough Hell, I've been waiting a month for a DVD that I can buy in any store, thank you very much Amazon! If this is meant to cash in for Christmas, it's not going to work. "The Rainbow Children" didn't even touch the Top 100 and he really expects people to rush out for this set in only a week's time to buy this disc set (which is insanely overpriced) for hardcore fans in such a short time? It just doesn't make sense. In fact, at this rate he should wait til next year and hope for the best (but he should rush the copies to you guys that spent the mega bucks to join NPGMC).

You almost make it seem like capitalism is a license to be as bad as you want to be. I guess that's how some people do the awful things that they do to others and still manage to sleep at night. No one is talking about perfection here, because it doesn't exist and never will. I was talking about striving towards it, though. As fun as this intellectual discourse is, this is getting way off topic. But I'm having a blast speaking with you anyway.

Well thats what capatalism is deep down..and that may not be its original credo but thats been in the minds of those who championed it form the beginning imho I guess that's how some people do the awful things that they do to others and still manage to sleep at night. I feel you on that As fun as this intellectual discourse is, this is getting way off topic.
Well Prince is being seen as a bad guy because he is releasing product in time of the holiday gift giving season as if thats a crime..maybe greed can cause someone to release quality product, to create quality product so more sales etc..greed is good... and bad yes...but all Im saying is its there and natural in this society and in music etc But I'm having a blast speaking with you anyway.
