Prince and Drugs Does anyone think Prince could have hit a new creative high if he'd got himself into some form of drugs or other?
I know all about him and his supposed ecstacy experience, but in all seriousness, do you think he could have made some great records when messed up? “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

Drugs making people more "creative" is a bad and stupid myth imo. Change it one more time..

Not advocating drug use, but some artists have made the greatest music of their careers on drugs. “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”

Prince is creative enough with his music he doesn't need drugs to enhance his creativity. Sometimes Life is like the post...You just don't get it!

I think very few artists from the 80's era that got as big as he did, didnt do drugs. BUT..If anybody wouldnt have, it would be Prince. Prince always strayed from the "In crowd" and did his own thing. So i think its very possible he stayed away from drugs. The one era that he may have dabbled in the dope would have been during the Lovesexy era.

Please this thread.
No one has any proof that he ever associated himself with drugs. Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

No he did not!!! Ever watched his "performance" on stage with James Brown? If you believe that was a "natural high" you might want to take a course in the effects of drugs.

Wasn't there a reporter that alleged he was doing heroin backstage at some point on the GB tour? Anyone else know what I'm talking about? Then there is that Lily Allen video for "Everyones At It" that has yet to come out as far as I know. They have a P look alike over a bathtub with a needle and such...
And watch this thread get locked in 5...4...3...2...

This is a clear message as to Prince's anti drug stance, as there is in Sign o the times too. The "rumour" was that Prince shelved the Black Album due to him being on ectasy at the time of recording. Now I'm 35 and remember the furore round the time, and this rumour is something I have only heard the last couple of years. I have been into Prince since 1986. The official reason Prince shelved the black album was because he was "in a dark place" though I just think he realised it may not sell too well. Prince has always been known as someone who doesn't drink, let alone do drugs. God bless us cos we fonky

"I'm over 30 and I don't smoke weed" It does not matter to me if he did do drugs or not.

no your right,he doesnt need drugs... but what IF he did.... I think he's the type of person that it would hinder and harm him far far more than it'd do anything positive to his music. And no one has specified what kind of drugs you'd expect him to do... weed is not a tab of acid is not extacy is not heroin is not coke... all very different effects. Change it one more time..

I think in all honesty we'd be fooling ourselves if we didn't think he did drugs at some stage.... I struggled with this 'wonderment' for a long time....thinking that Prince has never done such a thing - except for the ecstasy incident' but of late I ahve heard various sources suggesting otherwise.... I don't think Prince is addicted to drugs but I have heard creditable stories (none of them ever 'published' or even common knowledge BTW) that indicate that Prince did drugs including coke at least one time....I don't know Prince personally or any of his 'people' so I am not gonna judge either way...but to think Prince didn't do drugs at all would be very naive..the industry is rampant with drug use, Prince certainly doesn't condone them publicly...but what he did/does in his own time will probably never see the light of day.... he has certainly been around drugs and drug users - its relatively common knowledge George Clinton did 'lines' at Paisley Park.... why 'all of a sudden' did he experiment with ecstasy in 87... was that really 'out of the blue'? ...when he was rushed into hospital not long after their baby had died was it really just a mix of 'painkillers and wine'? maybe it was...
I don't believe Prince has ever been hooked on hard drugs, but he more than likely dabbled... there is no concrete proof either way - but various stories indicate that Prince wasn't, or maybe isn't, as 'clean' as he makes out.... as stated though...I don't know - so don't flame me for suggesting either way - just look at the facts - weigh up the gossip/stories and myths and make up your own mind...at the end of the day does it matter? He doesn't promote their use publicly so what he does at home is his own business IMHO

Prince would of sued out the ass if Susan Rogers lied about his drug use during The Black Album. She said that like 10 years ago, lawsuits or denials have never come.

What the....? A new creative high? Have you ever heard the song Computer Blue? Shy? Sadomasochistic Groove? Prince has always been ona creative high. He need no drugs to do so just judging from his back catalogue, released and unreleased. :Shaking my head:

I recall seeing an interview with someone who ran a club Prince used to visit in London in the Symbol tour days, who was talking about Prince drinking the odd glass of port.

Yes, and he sings of drinking in the song The Holy River, I do believe. One the ex-band members also said at some point, quite a while back, that the "old Prince" comes out when he gets drunk.
