Michael Jackson's Concert will be better than Prince's @ the O2

Not because MJ is better but because quite simply he has a bigger aura.

What P has 2 get on stage, play six instruments & sing his heart out 4...MJ can achieve by just holding a pose. I,ve stood 2 feet away from someone who fainted at the sight of MJ just doing a walk across the stage...

Love him or hate him, the concert will just feel bigger & better..

Although Prince has succeeded over the past few years in being commercially more successful than MJ, in terms of superstardom Michael Jackson has risen well above Prince.

Let me explain, its cos Prince shot himself in the foot a long time ago by becoming, well, normal.neutral He started 2 become human and regular and show his 'every day Joe' side 2 much. Slowly the mistique, weirdness and superstardom that made Prince so Princey in the beginning disappeared. What we were left with was a very respectable star who is very talented but nonetheless NOT a superstar in the strict sense of the definition. MJ on the other hand has maintained and even surpassed his wierdness, mistique, superstardom. He is what definesa superstar. Some1 who is so removed from normality that we are excited, revolted, confused, in adoration and blown away at the mere sight of him.

Im just saying, Prince's concert was very Talented. MJ's concert will be Magic, literally.

Yes and apparently to see whose "aura" is bigger. The last thing we want is Prince with aura envy.

Yes, lets compare. After all, excellence can only be defined as a measure against its peer.

I am in no way sayin that Michael Jackson is a better performer than Prince. Just that he quite simply will stir up a bigger reaction from the crowd, I mean he's better known around the world than the pope.

Prince's concert was like goin 2 a great man doin' his thing and that is respectable but MJ's concert is gonna feel like going 2 an all out cult exstravaganza ...the sheer scale of MJ's Messianic presence (which I find hilarious) will make the concert a bigger better experience

i have never heard such a pile of crap.

the only people who faint at the mere site of MJ posing or walking in front of them are the obssessed freaks who worship the guy. "I love you Michael" shouting deluded fools.

the untouchable 'superstar' thing was in the 80s. now, thank goodness, it comes down to what talent have you got? (apart from a few exceptions Girls Aloud etc.)

now i do not doubt MJ's talent in the 80s. but the guy isn't a musician and is in his 50s. So when he gets tired does not have a guitar or a piano to fall back on and play. (I do not doubt he plays an instrument... but not live)

I saw him live at Wembley in 97 and demanded my money back as he was miming!!!! I bloody got it back as well.

I hope MJ proves me wrong. But alas i suspect the shows will be less about music and more about a bloke miming to his backcatalogue with fancy lights and... ahem... magic tricks.

It may well be a circus for a bit... but i genuinely think people will want more substance this time around.

Or will it all be a gigantic let down?

Can he even perform live any more, for one full length show, never mind a tour? Or is it going to be a blitz of expensive pyrotechnics, video screens and two dozen dancers half his age buzzing round him whilst he mimes into a headset?

I couldn't be bothered with Prince's shows at the O2, but he put on an impressive string of live concerts and aftershows, Michael is surely going to put on a stage show, not a live concert?

Thankyou.

Im a Prince music appreciater all the way but Im a realist.
U should see the craziness MJ has stirred up in the UK already, its nuts.

I find it very noble that Prince fans r defending Prince but there's no need. we all know Prince is on another level 2 MJ. BUT he doesnt and hasnt retained that thing that was Joey CoCo..remeber him, he's not got us playing his music backwards anymore or trying 2 figure out the lyrics, P doesnt swear no more disbelief or talk about sex or get nasty..he's not even an arrogant acting weirdo anymore...he's become a decnt, respectable, immesely talented musician who is more normal than we need a star 2 be. Hell, Im not sure P even wears heelsanymore.

MJ on the other hand is weirder than ever..

As people Prince is on top

As musicians Prince

As performers Prince

but as superstars...MJ

I think you've gone abit too far on this one....yes MJ can/will sell more dates than Prince and yes the Hype is bigger than Prince's gig...but let's not forget Prince made the 02 the venue it is in London....it is and will always be his house first....and MJ people know this so he has to do at least 21 Nights... lol

I find it weird that MJ fans are so blatantly obsessed to promote their idol on a Prince fansite.

In terms of their 'aura's...

I think we live in an age when the mysterious oddball superstar act has lost it's allure and relevance. Prince hasd this in the eighties, but has grown up with the world. He has managed to turn his 'freaky' aura into a 'cool' aura, and consequently, maintained, possibly even increased, the aura that surrounds him. he has done this by letting his talent be the thing that drives our admiration and awe of him. There are no 'tricks' here- no smoke and mirrors. Just amazing, jaw-dropping, almost superhuman...talent. I love Michael Jackson's old work, but seriously, how many more tricks does he have left...and can he still wow an audience that has matured considerably in the last twenty years?

You are right, every single one of my co-workers came into the office this morning wearing a fedora, 3/4 length trousers, white socks and glitter gloves.

The "craziness" is a construct of the media. I'm not denying there are probably a few hundred hardocre MJ fans waiting at the O2 for this press conference but really, the rest of the country are just going about their business. No doubt it will be all over the news later but do we have choice about that?

For me, this news is in the Jade Goody category. I'm just not interested and am finding it hard to locate a news channel that doesn't think I want the latest developments rammed down my throat.

I saw him on the BAD tour - and you're right, people do just faint at one of his poses. There is no doubting that he poses better than Prince.

The concert on the other hand was just watered down versions (in terms of both song and dance) of his videos. Dull. A bigger event? Yes. A bigger star? Yes. A better concert? No way.

lol Not my bag at all.

To be honest I have seen him live at Wembley Stadium on the Dangerous tour. Even then it was all a bit showy and not much substance. He did that whole stand there for 10 minutes thing like a statue and "left" the stage on a jetpack (well some stuntman did as MJ had already hid in a box). It was bordering on the ludicrous and self-parody even then.
