Aah, a tracklist... let the guessing begin!

I remember when I was 'young and at my Prince fandom peek' I liked to guess what the new songs would sound purely based on the tracklist of the upcoming album. biggrin

So, why not relive that period and throw up some guesses for the upcoming 'boxset'? I know, its pure guessing, but its part of the fun.

Here I go..

Disc 1 - Lotus Flow3r

From the Lotus: Sounds like an instrumental too me, bit jazzy, bit ambient.

Boom: a slice of funk-rock? Not too deep lyrics, more like a 'dance track'?

Crimson and Clover: a slick cover of the original with some Wild Thing and nice guitar-solo's thrown in (allready knwon... of course)

4EVER: gospel-like soulpop in a 'Rainbow Children'-lite production (idem)

Colonized Mind: One of those quirky philosophical-political lyrics Princes throws out once in a while, bit overrated IMO (idem)

Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful: Havent heard it yet. The title indeed sounds like a breezy, feelgood song, something like 'Its about that walk' from the Vault album.

Love Like Jazz: reportedly cocktail-jazz, but in what kind of vein: poppy, aka Strollin, or a bit more edgy, like the Madhouse songs?

77 Beverly Park: could be a long, semi-improvised funk-jam (a bit like Chelsea Rodgers) or either more dank and claustrofobic aka the title track of 3121.

Wall of Berlin: Not a political one, despite the title. A bit quirky guitar-pop, so so... (previewed before).

Dreamer: sounds like the most promising song to me, according to early reviews. A long, anthemic rock-ballad like Gold, or something more groovy and midtempo?

Back to the Lotus: probably the second part of the instrumental this album might open with.

Disc 2 - MPLSound

(There’ll Never B) Another Like Me; Chocolate Box; Dance 4 Me; U’re Gonna C Me; Valentina; Better with Time; Ol’ Skool Company; No More Candy 4 U;

The album as a whole: I have the feeling will be quite homogenic sound- and productionwise. From the tracks we heard so far It will be like a bunch of new songs, created by using 'old', familiar elements like the linn-drum, synthsamples, and an overall electro-funk style.
But will it be sharp and edgy? Or more poppy and accesible? Not sure yet.

Disc 3 - Elixir

Here Eye Come; All This Love; Home; Something U Already Know; Everytime; 2Nite; Another Boy; Kept Woman; Immersion; Elixir

The album as a whole: the least interesting of the 3 to me. I keep wondering why Prince still (starting with Vanity 6 in 1981) holds on to the idea of producing leightweight female vocalists, who go in obscurity after releasing one or two albums.
Nonetheless: i must say the instrumentation on the tracks i heard so far sound rather sophisticated (in a good way), and not too plastic.
But...who is waiting for a second-hand Sade or Taja Sevelle, nr.2?

I saw him play Dreamer the other night & it's a funky hendrixian type of number. Awesome!! He broke it down in the middle while Josh played the bass line & gave a shout out to all the speakers from the Symposium while playing funky licks on his guitar. He said at one point " Even though we don't share all the same views I heard what ya'll was saying" something to that effect.

The highlight of the show for me by far. Ya'll will love this one.

To be honest I like Brias voice from what ive heard and the music does sound sophisticated, whats there not to be interested in exactly?

Taja Sevelle? OK now, Ive seen her name pop up a few times since i joined the org and I wanted to say something about it. Yes she was a Prince protoge for a split second. Nobody really heard that album and the songs were not that great. Her high voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Hurts my ears. Love is contagious yippe. confused Jill jones was ten times better. Mia Bocca. Sorry Taja but im just telling the truth as I see it.

See and I dont like Bria's voice and used the same sort of description to describe her voice ... grating. What is there not to be interested? Is taste.

Honestly, if she was from around the way she might get away with pronoucing words like "stow" "fo sho" and "watchoo" shit like that. But she aint, and its ANNOYING as FUCK to have someone perpertrate that this is their lingo.

Sorry, its just my opinion, but her sexy talk on top of words you know Prince fed her is just, not, GENUINE.

Unfortunately Im going to have to buy her album as the 3 cd set piece but i will be using it as a coaster. LOL

trust me cd coasters look cool. falloff

Psst... because he's "sleeping with them." Prince doesn't have any fat girlfriends so that's why you never see him produce an album for a woman who's not stick thin. They all look the same, except now she looks like a 6 foot tall transvestite.

This place is a complete BITCHFEST!
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
