Now I will admit that Planet Earth is one of my LEAST favorite album by P, but I see a lot of hate here for Future Baby Mama which just boogles me. That song (along with SHOE) saves the album from being completely awful. I'm listening to this song now and those bells are just killer, the linn drum, that bridge. I'm sorry, I just can't see how people don't like this song. I hope you're not going off the title.....

This too is one of my favorites from the album. It's has a sweet sentiment - the negativity re: it?.....that's neither here nor there. It always makes me feel good when I hear it.

Props to you and "Future Baby Mama"! It is a gem of a song that deserved the airplay it got, and maybe more. I also wonder why "The One U Wanna C'' wasn't a smash on the radio. I just don't get it. That was vintage Prince in his confident style and rockin' music. But I'm glad FBM got its props, anyway.

The song is good until about half way thru, until Prince extends the song with a lame speaking part... it falls prey to the "random words" syndrome, when Prince runs out of ideas for a song so he just talks over it for a good 2 minutes. "Future Baby Mama" turned a nice little rock record into some kind of lame r&b experiment. The second half of the album is a complete bomb.

The lyrics aren't that great, but other than that I like the song. It's one of the best on PE imo. I liked it instantly.

Get over it Prince is black and grew up on R&B... its also where the vast majority of his fan base comes from. He could no more stop doing R&B than he could stop being black.

Oh yeah....There is nothing experimental about FBM either!

Don't like the song all you want... but I fail to see whats Bat Shit about Lyrics that Princes reflects on past loves and the reputation hes developed because of it. Finds the love of his life and explains despite what she has heard hes so in love with her that he sees her as the mother of his child. Or explaining that in a relationship that he really appreciates a woman that will stand by him even in the storms (gotta bend in the wind but don't break to keep your man)

Future Baby Mama is one his bests in the new millennium. The bridge is REALLY good. But like Prince fans seem to do a lot, we really disagree... because I think Somewhere Here On Earth is one of the weakest tracks on the album.

I ain't sayin the overall lyrics are bad.. but the point is the focus of the topic. "Future Baby Mamma". All it was, was a failed attempt to become part of the "scene" in hopes of a hit..
