Fantastic song indeed. Seeing him do it live is even more special, whether on guitar or piano. It's also a great way to have ended "Parade". I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I hated this song for years and years until.....
the One Night Alone/Rainbow Children tour. I never connected with this song, thought it was a mismatch on Parade and never listened to it. Then he played it at the concert and the reaction that came from the crowd. I will absolutely never forget this as long as I live. I turned around because of that reaction and the look on this girl's face. It said everything. The emotion the beginning chords elicited on her face was to be revered. From that point on I could only respect this song. Now I love it immensely. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

My snowblower is gassed up and ready. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I recently joined a band. At a rehearsal last week, the guys got talking about Prince. Amy (the singer) suddenly started singing SISIA. I joined in on piano, and we knocked out a couple of verses. Was brilliant, partly from being so spontaneous.
Stunning song L x I'm just, I'm just Levi from the org

Is there any Prince song more beautiful than this?? You haven't lived until you've heard the version from Paisley Park concert (The Park). He opens with 3 minute or so sweet melancholic electric guitar solo before he begins singing.

One of my favorite performances is from the Target Center Minneapolis 7.7.07 show
Accoustic set with Wendy Melvoin He sang it with the emotion that goes with that song 1:32 into the song a lady wails out a scream, the right touch for it too Beautiful song, beautiful strings Sometimes it snows in April Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad Sometimes I wish that life was never ending But all good things, they say, never last All good things that say, never last And love, it isn't love until it's past [Edited 3/4/09 10:15am]

As said, it is a not much talked about song, but i think its a favourite, not only among Prince fans, but also among people who don't 'usually' like his music.
I remember reading an interview with a Dutch actress who was very fond of Mozart, and didn't even know who Prince was. She had heard the song on a funeral, and really raved about it in the interview. Comparing the fragileness with some of Mozarts music. I also notice the song is mentioned a lot on forum-topics on 'general' sites about: 'What songs do you want to be played at your funeral / cremation'. I have read several times that people who heard the song at someones funeral, did find a certain relieve in the lyrics, and considered it a moving song. Personally i remember really being stunned by the song when i first heard it. I became a fan with Sign of the Times in 1987 and did start to buy his 'back catalogue' in random order since then. At that moment, for me he was the master of high-energy driven funk and rock (1999 and Purple Rain) and of more experimental, abstract, electronic sounding songs (Kiss, Sign of the Times, If I was your girlfriend). When i bought the Parade album, and heard Sometimes it snows in april for the first time i remember thinking: Wow, i didn't think he was capable of THIS type of music! I mean, it was totally acoustic, almost folk-like even (when i did get to know Joni Mitchells music, i started to understand where 'that' came from), and the lyrics were way more 'humble' sounding then the more bold, sometimes 'cartoonesque' lyrics from him i was used too at that moment. I know, its a fictional (movie)story, but somehow, in its instrumental, vocal and lyrical ldelivery Prince touched me with that song on an emotional level, like many of his songs simply don't do. Unfortunately Prince hasn't released many more of this type of songs later on in his career. This thought occured to me especially while looking at and listening to his quite moving acoustic performance of 'Reflection' with Wendy on the Tavis Smiley show.

Oh man I played it like 20 times in a row the other night.
Sounds cheesy but everytime I listen to it, it's like the first time. All the critics love U in LDN!

Anyone who likes this song (or Mountains, also on Parade) might wish to check out Wendy & Lisa's first album. It's essentially their sound.

For me another great Prince song that nobody ever talks about and everybody has completely forgotten is 'With You'...
It was my first song that really got me into Prince that wasn't a big hit song like Kiss or WDC.... Anyone else's thoughts?... Shut up already, damn.
