Prince is just TIRED Prince is now just some "hits" performer (albeit maybe the best live performer around) who can only draw crowds to hear his old hits sprinkled with some cover-tunes or medleys. His studio output is beyond lame, uninspired, and tired -- who goes to Prince's concerts hoping to hear "get on the boat" or "life of the party" or any song put out in the last ten years - - I don't think many. Remember back in 1988, people would go to the shows hoping to hear his 1987 music. In 1990, people would wanna hear "alphabet street" put out just a year prior. Not so w/ Prince today.
While radiohead, or similar groups, may not have the raw live-performance talent Prince does -- because they make relevant, new, interesting music - their live performances benefit. Prince can be the best performer in the world - but his using his talents on tired hits and lame covers diminishes his live shows - even if technically they're on point. Yes, he can't escape people wanting to hear the hits - it goes with being a legend, but he can make new music people want to hear (remember his 1994-1997 tours) - if he just can't anymore, maybe it's just something I as a Prince fan need to accept.

I'm tired, but that's cuz I stayed up too late last night listening to some of the great and voluminous Prince material that he's released in the last 10 years.
I really need to get more sleep * * *

Matter a fact, seems like some ah y'all are havin some trouble differentiating the word workaholic from robot. PRINCE AIN'T A ROBOT. The man is a human being and if he decides to take a 5 yr rest after workin so hard for 30+ yrs then so be it. Now...word is he's openin his vault --- the same thing some ppl have been bitchin about --- and they can't bitch about it anymore so they're findin some other pointless things to bitch about. There are other great musicians u know...just go seek em out. Poor Prince can't get a chance with some ah y'all no matter which way he turns I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

I don't care for the covers, Prince has so much music (released & unreleased) that he doesn't have to do that. (Like Allan Leeds said he doesn't fully appreciate his music) I hate having to hear Shelby sing a cover (Crazy) when she could sing: Manic Monday, He's So Dull, or any other song But I really enjoy all spectrums of his career, the 80's moreso than any other of course. I also hate hearing them refered to as the hits, its great music, and I hate hearing them performed in a medley: why can't I hear the whole version of Condition of the Heart...it's never been played in it full length. People really do appreciate the ballads and slower songs... was Adore ever really performed in a full version? The Future, Stollin, Uptown, Dance Electric... Sometimes It Snows In April performed with Wendy at the Target Center 7.7.07 show was about 3:30 minutes. They could have went longer, it was beautiful. I think about a minute and a few sec into the song this lady wails out a cry... and I said to myself "sister I feel you wail on"

The Future, Stollin, Uptown, Dance Electric... here is the answer 2 ur questions then i would like 4 u 2 answer my question afterward please the songs r referred 2 the hits by prince himself..hence y the compilation the hits/b-sides was titled. there has never been a "full" live version of condition of the heart and y should there b? u want the intro 2 the song 2 b played live or something? the future was played on the nude tour full version strollin has been played with using 2 of the 3 versus which is common practice with a lot of bands not just prince. uptown was done in full during the dirty mind tour and if ur talking about a full version of the dance electric, hmm andre cymone's version is about 5 mins ..so i'm not sure when u mean by full version of this song... now has the following ever been played at all? joint 2 joint, style, emancipation, hot wit u, so far so pleased, vavoom, love, tick tick bang, new power generation, etc etc... so when the hits r constantly played where there r tons of other songs that have never had their day in the spotlight, perhaps u get a better understanding y some r sick and tired of hearing the "hits/covers" man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
