Why No New Setlist, Its Time 2 Promote New Music PRINCE Ok, I know Prince wants to give the fans his best work of the old, but how about taking it back to 1993, when you (prince) did ACT 1 and ACT 2...Play the New Music then give us Hits...
I'm tired of reading about the same old playlist and covers show! People what Prince SONGS, would you like to hear played old or new thats not been overplayed for the past 10 years!!!? I'd suggest: Old School Company Dreamer 4Ever The Morning Papers Automatic Computer Blue/My Computer Colonized Mind Crimson and Clover Moonbeam Levels Thunder 17 Days Black Sweat Chocolate Box DiscoJellyFish Get your groove on hmmmm the list goes on!

That's what you get for being online reading all about his every move. When, or if he comes your way and he plays what he plays, you will be there clapping.
You run your career and let him run his.

You run your career and let him run his. I think noone would ever deny that we'll rather see something of Prince than nothing at all, of course. But if we had the choice we would like to see some more recent stuff. We would enjoy both, but we would prefer the latter.

To be honest with you, I never realized he did many covers at the recent performances was lucky to witness. Only when I came here and read about them did I realize. See, when Im there I am into the music and performance. Im not one who writes set lists down, or ponders why the heck he is singing something. I 'experience' the experience and do not ponder the set list. As I made the thread, he could play the phone book and Im sure it would be awesome. One time he did play all of his hits only. The 1997-98 JOTY tour and to me it sucked. Trying to fit all these hits , making them medleys and such. Yuck. Id rather he play any other song just as long as he is truly inspired by it and it shows in th e performance. And it has. Trust me on this.

Someone who got to see him 2 years ago for 31.21 pounds didn't even have to be a die-hard - simply someone who liked PR and SOTT - and of course it's a highlight for those people to hear Purple Rain by the master himself. And I completely understand that he would rather please 20000 people who love hearing the hits than 200 people who have heard the same performance of Let's Go Crazy over and over again on all the live boots from the past 10 years. I'm just saying that, personally, I would prefer hearing 90s and later stuff. I know that nobody forced me to get the live boots, but I do enjoy them! It's just that if I had the choice, I'd pick songs like P Control, Face Down, Crimson And Clover, Call My Name, 3121, Planet Earth and stuff like that.

DetroitMusic said: I'm tired of reading about the same old playlist and covers show! The past several performances have not been for Prince "fans" properly speaking, but for a more general public. It only makes sense he'll keep it familiar for them. My impression is that when he has a proper tour again he'll play his music. Change it one more time..

I want to hear a FULL HOUSEQUAKE! Then I could die happily. That and if he played some of Endorphinemachine and anything off of the Black Album. There's a lot of stuff I'd like to hear off of Emancipation(Face Down, Get Yo Groove On, STYLE!, and others, I've forgotten). Also I would love for him to do either "In Love" or "Just as Long as We're Together," and I'd really like to hear "Crazy You." Prince should read this thread!

You run your career and let him run his. spoking like a true fyi, i have HEARD a lot of his concerts over the past 2 years that will make ur head spin, so i DO NOT have 2 b there 2 clap my hands or shake my head from the setlist presented 2 know that he needs 2 focus on his material from the past few years and a sprinkling of hits in his live shows. this is not about popularity, it's about as some has suggested in other threads, appealing 2 not only his hardcore fan base, but gaining new blood. if someone comes up 2 u saying yeah does prince have new music and u go "oh yeah man he has 2 new albums coming out this year alone!", the person that maybe hasn't seen him b4 goes checking out the show, and low and behold, prince is doing a 20 song set, 15 songs r covers ..NO NEW MUSIC ..yeah u just made a new fan man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Prince doing what he wants to do is a given.
I think, for me, I have found out why I'm so not into the amount of covers in the shows. First, I've said this before so I will keep it brief as it is not my main point, I want to hear PRINCE. Second, not hearing the new stuff live, not seeing Prince himself performing the tunes, maybe showing them love, has made it difficult to take the songs to heart. Just me...and just sayin' I'm firmly planted in denial

..prince should promote more the new music...i think the prince community is strong enough 2 help with the history...the radio stations made up a majority of the promotional aspect..but who make up the radio stations?..we r a voice..i guess it is ALL about a chain-reaction...
..mzsexybaby<---marking-time ..She's Just A Baby..but she's my lady..my loveR..my only friend!..true love that will last!..PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND..WHAT SHE SEES IN AN OLDER MAN..they never stop 2 think that maybe i'm what she's looking 4..THEY NEVER TAKE THE TIME..2 look in her mind

Remember back when he wanted to retire Purple Rain, 1999 etc.? I think it;s time to retire the Come Together/Play That Funky Music covers section. I swear he's played them more often than some of his own big hits.
