According to daily mirror, Prince....

http://www.mirror.co.uk/c...-21158973/

Prince is slapped with lawsuit outside LA nightclub 28/02/2009

Prince is used to stepping out after a concert and seeing the usual assortment of adoring hangers-on.

But it was a different story outside the Avalon nightclub in LA. Because there waiting was a lawyer... ready to slap a summons on the oddball musical legend.

Apparently, Prince was due to play Dublin's Croke Park on June 16 last year. But, according to MCD productions, he reneged on the deal and left them out of pocket.

Our source told us: "The lawyer flew out from New York to LA to try to serve these papers to Prince.

Apparently he pulled out of the gig so the clients are looking for compensation."

Tickets for Prince's gig at the Oscars party last week were on sale for up to $200 a pop, but only half were sold.

Seems like no-shows are all the rage...
.....

OMG.. NO SHOWS..How stupid!!.Everybody out to get poor lil princey....
You would think these sites could get their information right.
Tickets were $100.00 were'nt they?
Funny thing is, I don't think the lawyer could get close enough to Prince to serve him with the papers lol

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Were people not refunded for their tickets? That's really all Prince can legally be held responsible for, right?
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

And didn't the promoters at the time say it was beyond prince's control that the show was cancelled confused

While not wanting to blindly defend MCD, promoting a concert incurs more expense than just selling the tickets.

Prince has at times shown himself to be unreliable in business so a lawsuit is probably what he deserves here....the courts will decide anyway.

Orgers, we all know he's the first to call in the lawyers when he's not happy so getting a taste of his own medicine might do him a bit of good.....maybe.....

Dude may have other problem with his businesses but he does not have a rep for not showing up for concerts. I think the tough economic times has driven some of you to hate on anyone making money.

No just facing facts ( there was a rather long list of concert cancellations posted on the org at the time of the Croke Park fiasco...can't be bothered to look it up but you might like to)....I don't care whether he makes money or not I just don't approve of everything he does just because he's Prince!!!

You don't have to either!! biggrin

The only official concerts that I recall being cancelled were the Croke Park shows recently. Someone on the org posted other shows in Europe but I do not recall tickets being sold for those shows. Anyway in over 30 years of being in the business P has a good track record for showing up for shows. I don't approve of everthing he does but unlike a lot of orgers I don't live and die based on what is going on in P's life. You need to fucking relax and get over the Croke Park shows. Performers cancel shows and life goes on.

Shows? we missed out on more than one night? Damn, now I'm pissed lol

I can see Croke Park from my house - if you would kindly help me dismantle this 82,000 seat stadium, I'll put it out of my mind. Thanks in advance.
