Which do you prefer? Going to a Prince concert or afterparty?
I love the concerts because it's always amazing to see how revved the audience gets and how diverse it is no matter where you are, but hands down, I'd say the afterparties are waaaay better because the setlist is so unexpected and the crowd is way more intmate and usually full of hardcores so everone's singing along with the album tracks and b-sides if he plays them. Let's not rule out the surprise celeb appearance, at my 1st afterparty, I got to see Larry Graham, Alicia Keys, Musiq Soulchild. George Clinton and Doug E.Fresh!!! I enjoy seeing the band play the songs on a whim and respect how effortless they make it seem! I cant wait for that again this year! It's been 3 years!!!! &

the concerts. there was a time i would have said aftershow, but i'd rather hear the same old stuff in a polished version than hear the same old stuff as a chaotic mess at god o'clock in the morning.

The new stuff is always best in concert to me and the golden oldies at the afterparty. But I suppose you've been to way more events than I &

But I suppose you've been to way more events than I i feel like the past couple of years, the aftershows and the concerts have come to have a very similar quality to them. i think the only difference is that there's still a little bit of a free-for-all feel to the aftershow gigs, plus there's more piddlefarting before the show and between songs.

Both together is best! Main concert first for the hits and the excitement. The aftershow though.... Wow... I have NEVER experienced seeing, hearing and feeling music like that before, it was incredible, I felt like I was on a different plane... I don't know if people realise how privileged they are to be in a situation like that. Someone of his calibre and talent, in a small club (like going down to your local pub and seeing the local band - except it's PRINCE) with some of the best music and musicians you're ever likely to come across! You know, he gets a lot of stick for this and that and the next thing, but that's an incredibly generous performer. Who else at his level do you see doing stuff like that? Being so intimate with their fans, and generous with their time and talent. There were probably only a couple of hundred people at the aftershow I was at, if that! And all for the price of a local band or getting into a club. Amazing! I was totally blown away by that experience, I never imagined in my wildest dreams I'd see him in that kind of situation, I'm so grateful for that night. And if that makes me sound like a 'fam' or whatever, I don't give a flying 'you know what'! I know when I'm lucky
