It has to be quality, albeit that can be subjective.

His great 80's works have endured, enriching my life over many years, and I would love for another ATWIAD or SOTT to make such a lasting impact on me.

'Musicology3121Planetearth' doesn't have the same resonance...I won't have their melodies jumping into my brain at random moments when I'm buying a sandwich.

Granted, that could partially be down to me and the natural ageing process, but I still find albums that make me sit up and take notice, giving me that urge to play them every day at least in the honeymoon period. That's happens to not be my experience with Prince in the last few years. But I keep the faith regardless.

Quantity. Definitely. One man's trash...
I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

I was just discussing this with a P fan. Quantity every time. Even when we get albums that we consider poor (by his standards), there are always some gems or at the very least something interesting. I don't agree with the release an album every 3 years idea because you loose the theme of each album. Take 86-89 for example. Would Do you Lie, Housequake, Glam Slam and Partyman sound coherent on an album? Great songs, but not massive hits. Which songs would you exclude?

With Prince, isnt it always both? I mean, the quality is always phenom, even if you may not agree with lyrical content i.e. "TRC" and the quantity is always plentiful i.e. new music follweed by: concerts, tours, AF. TER. PAR. TIES, excited sudden appearances...I am patiently waiting Prince pa...tien...tly....pray fuse
