Sorry, I am going into "Shanehnay" mode. I would like you to review the TV show "Martin" by famed comedy actor Martin Lawrence for further study.

If you don't know me my name is Isaiah and I have been a member here for the past seven years. Sometime I like to joke around and act like Im telling somebody off a bit to be funny, but I see since you dont have a sense of humor you didnt get the joke and I apologize greatly for your misunderstanding.
disbelief

I have a sense of humor, but it is only triggered by things that are in fact humorous.

Martin Lawrence is not a "famed comedy actor." He's a half-step above the lowest common denominator of dick & fart jokes who appeals to uneducated people who will laugh at most anything.

What do you mean by this viewaskew?
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

People need to get off their high horse and worry about whats really going on in the world. F that.

So you say people should worry about whats REALLY GOING ON IN THE WORLD. F THAT.
(I suppose what is REALLY going on in the world for you is posting on prince.org ?)

I was just stating that it would only be common courtesy to clap when you know Prince knew damn well that was Heath Ledger's family standing up in front of him after there son just won the Oscar. Even a little Golf Clap would have looked better than whispering.

Is it really that serious? shrug

I used to live in a certain section of a certain city. You know how around Oscar time theaters would rescreen nominated films for a limited run? Not this theater. They wouldn't even show them for an initial run, in favor of the latest Martin Lawrence or Chris Rock drivel. Some people are more easily amused than others & don't go looking for much in a movie beyond profanity & grossout humor. Sad, but true.

Look i take your point on Martin Lawrence he not a great act ....but let's not drag Chris Rock into this he's funny and smart ...his films are rubbish but his comedy is great...but then you could say the same thing about alot of Hollywood actors... wink

omg WHAT?!

Say what U want about Martin and his skill, but to classify his fans as "uneducated" is ludicrous, and not an intelligent statement.

But that doesn't mean that those people are uneducated. Why can't people go to a movie and have a good time? If you want to see a movie up for an Oscar, then you can surely find a theater showing that film. Was this theater you talk about in a lower-income area?

Exactly, it's not a very smart assumption to think only "uneducated" people watch these type of movies. I've seen movie theatres in upscale neighborhoods showing stupid ass movies that Jack Black is in, and I find him to be an overacting, atrocious, complete asshole that would do anything for a laugh. Doesn't mean everyone who lives in that area is a fan of his or will pay to see his movies, so it really depends on the "individual's" taste, since that's what people are anyway. You can't lump people in one group and assume they're all the same or like the same things.

Wait a minute... You're a Kevin Smith fan, right? Isn't Chris Rock a KS staple?

He's been in a couple of KS movies, but I'd hardly call Chris Rock a staple. In any case, can't you be a fan of someones films without liking every actor in them? I really enjoy Kevin Smith's films, but don't enjoy Chris Rock very much.

Surely Prince fans can appreciate being a fan of someone but not liking everything? I'm looking at you Jughead. biggrin
