a 'Chameleon Guitar' for Prince I wonder what he would do with such a cool little toy...
They also say this guitar has a 'physical heart in a virtual body'. The link comes with a video. Enjoy! And Prince if you read this: come and visit us here at the Media Lab! http://web.mit.edu/newsof...-0203.html

I'm curious about those who are not too excited by it, the s among you - is it because Prince said once "I am the special effect" and that in principle you need natural, innate talent and nothing can replace it, no high-tech gadget can make you a genial musician/artist?..
Just curious what you think.

Funny how it hasn't been mentioned in Guitarist yet. I've emailed them the link.
This month's issue features the Gibson Dark Fire. So not only do we get a very capable tone machine we also get one that can alter it's tunings for you. And to top it all it's all wrapped up in a Les Paul shape The Chameleon, despite being an underwhelming article, does have potential despite the fact that it looks like a pigs ear. Would I buy one? No. Would I put money on it achieving less-than-mediocre sales? Yes. And remember the Variax? What about the 700 model? That looks quite nice. It's got that PRS vibe going on. Still think they look wrong without any pickups though. Don't forget Fender have also released a modelling guitar (last year I think) and Gibson had the HD6X-Pro Les Paul last year too. What really excited me about the latter is it's ability to separate each string therefore allowing the player to apply a different effect to each. Now that could produce some sounds! Imagine something like that in the hands of an early-Gilmour or Pete Frampton. Hell, any of the greats to be honest!

One of my favourite quotes is from Jeff Beck (I think). He said that the loudest amplifier in the world was the plectrum.
Off topic but still within it when you think about it... "It's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself." ~ J.S. Bach That for me sums up music (and most of life actually). Everything is simple.

It was in an interview around 1999-2000, I think with Yahoo.com, in which he was asked about his views on the Internet and technology. I'm not 100% sure about Yahoo but I am about the rest. No time to do the homework now but I'll have to look this up.

Cool, great, yes they should do a story.
I myself am no guitar specialist nor a musician of any sorts, so this is very uniformed, but let's remember, everybody, that this is an ongoing research project, it's still in development from what I understand and not ready to be put out there on the market. iloveannie said: Funny how it hasn't been mentioned in Guitarist yet. I'd love to know what Prince would say...
Btw, I am not sure how close you are to Guitarist, but if they need contact details for the story, I'll be happy to provide them. And I'm not sure if you keep a close eye on their coverage, but if they did a story [and you happen to see it], I'd love to know! iloveannie said: One of my favourite quotes is from Jeff Beck (I think).
