while production of new power soul is among prince worst ever,come to my house is much better effort.

i thought gcs2000 was pretty strong.

I love Come 2 My House, it is a very complete album
and I adore New Power Soul, it just bounces
and I've never really got GCS 2000, It just didn't bite me


And for production values, all I can say is SoTT seems to me, to be very under produced while later albums are 2 clinically produced and seem to loose the spark of inspiration that draws us to Prince in the first place

I slept on both because I didn't want to hear more Prince songs that made me cringe.

It seems like all he was using at that time was digital synths.

But Chaka's CD is excellent. Very organic. The string arrangements alone in the opening tracks were stunning... and Prince's production and arrangements were some of his best work. His use of Chaka's voice as an instrument interlaced with complex horn arrangements gave the CD a very jazzy feel.

True! but I think a lot of it had to do with Prince saying how hard Chaka was in the studio she was a firecracker and very demanding. That is how U get good work out a producer. U don't just sit there and expect the producer to use u like puppet like Britney or Ciara. U make ur presence known. Chake had a strong presence on that album...Too bad it flopped I still play that cd 2day.....

'Come 2 My House' is a masterpiece.....one of Chaka's best albums.Prince did a superb job on the production.His own 'New Power Soul' CD wasn't nearly as strong.

This is a CD I wanna get.

I like the CD, but it could have been a little more organic. Still too much Kirk J there. Chaka is an awesome singer. I would love to hear her recording with a band in a jazzy atmosphere.

I never really 'got' the production on Come 2 My House. GCS2000 had my favourite production of three, although it's not the biggest compliment in the world.

For some reason, I think Chaka had a lot to do with the production (maybe even more than Prince...who knows). She tends to know what she wants the finished project to sound like.
