Prince sells tickets to Oscars bash for £68
His regal pop-ness Prince shed his cloak and dagger ways by opening his private annual Oscar bash to the public after letting the average Joe from the street into this year's bash. The purple-one reportedly treated fans to an insight to his glammed-up world after selling tickets for his party for £68 ($100) allowing punters to party with him and the stars. But last night he was due to perform to ticket holders himself at the Avalon nightclub, with plans to post his show on his dark and mysterious website lotusflow3r.com http://www.metro.co.uk/fa..._page_id=7 Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! Id just like to say to prince..
WELL DONE!!! You seem to have listened to your fans. And by letting them into your oscars gig, you have undone some of the sillyness of late. And 100$ a ticket is great. Selfless and thoughtful. It sends a good message out in these hard times. We can all party together!. Well I could if I was in L.A at the moment.. !!! "My God it's full of Stars"

http://twitter.com/marcmalkin Prince just gave shoutout to Penelope cruz and Taraji. He's singing "Crimson & Clover." Alicia Keys has apparently showed up, as has taraji p. Henson. [Edited 2/23/09 5:49am] Just got to Prince's party at Avalon. I'm told only celebs who hit carpet were Tyler Perry and...Bai Ling. Club is kinda empty. That guy from NSYNC and Mika? I wondered what allowing the general public into an 'Oscar bash' might do for the turnout.... would have still loved to have gont though and I KNOW the Purple people would have had a great time One minute they want peace……

Across town, in Hollywood, Prince ended the night on his own rock 'n' roll, musical note, taking the stage at his last minute Oscar after-party at the Avalon club at 1:45 a.m.
Wearing black sunglasses, and waltzing onto the stage twirling a gleaming silver cane, Prince noodled on his guitar to whoops and hollers from the audience, which included nominee Henson. "This is what we do at house parties. I'm the DJ tonight," he said. http://www.google.com/hos...AD96HAIQ00 Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! Man I can't wait for the reviews! I'm sure Prince turned it out as usual. I hope all of the fans here will remember this event before they are so quick to say that Prince never does anything for the fans again. Whether he or his people read the stuff on this site or not, he opened the doors of an Oscar party to the general public and he didn't have to. I got to give Prince props for that. Well done sir! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Right. What a gracious, benevolent man he is. A musician played a concert and charged people a hundred dollars for the honor of standing amidst celebrities and faux celebrities! Wow, give that guy philanthropist of the year. Wave the dollar sign high, y'all. As for the performance, I'm sure he put on a good enough show. There's little question as to Prince's ability to perform live, even if it is the same old routine. But it was hardly an act of high charity to charge people to watch him play music. That's his job. No hard feelings.
