Prince covers Jimmy Eat World....and they like it http://www.azcentral.com/...jimmy.html
.....full story here..... by Ed Masley - Feb. 24, 2009 12:52 PM The Arizona Republic Early Monday morning, Prince led what was probably the world's greatest cover band through a hit-filled set at his annual post-Oscar bash at the Avalon Ballroom. He covered the Beatles. He covered the Stones. He covered Wild Cherry, the Cars and the Time. And right after dusting off "Honky Tonk Women," he tackled "The Middle" by Mesa's own Jimmy Eat World, in what a reporter from "Rolling Stone" called a "true-to-the-original" rendition. Jim Adkins wasn't there to hear it but figures, "He probably played it better than the many times I've sung 'Take Me With U' in the shower. I listened to Prince a lot growing up so it's pretty flattering. I'm trying to keep it somewhat in check because I know the dude probably covers a lot songs. But it is a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling. It's pretty absolutely wild and unexpected. Very surreal." As far as Adkins knows, this would be the first time anyone has covered a Jimmy Eat World song. Asked if there's anyone else he'd like to see covering one of his songs, his first reaction is that Prince was definitely on the short list. "Never in a million years would we have thought that Prince would even know who we are, let alone decide to launch into one of our songs," he says. "Maybe Tom Jones? Neil Diamond? Wayne Newton? We're gonna be shooting high now." [Edited 2/24/09 12:40pm] [Edited 2/24/09 12:42pm] [Edited 2/24/09 12:42pm] [Edited 2/24/09 12:44pm] Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! Understatement of the year. • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Very cool - thanks for posting! I was wondering if the bands reaction would be printed somewhere. As always the band is flattered and somewhat taken back too cool The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Thanks LS....I've never heard of this group and to be honest it's not really my cup of tea. I'm suprised Prince covered this...doesn't seem like his sort of vibe IMO but what do I know.

And yet i still have to intrest to learn who they are You've probably heard "Sweetness" by JEW, but didn't know who performed it. The song is very Foo Fighters. Nice. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
