You all have got to watch it all the way thru! Too funny! I immediately thought of Prince when I seen this, and I ain't the only one! Then I started reading the comments and others think so too! Also he covers "Let's Go Crazy"..... http://www.96tears.net/Qu...ilable.htm Now I wanna know, does Prince and the Prince Police know about this? Did Prince give this weirdo permission and authorization to do this? How did this guy guy get clearance to do this? Him of all people LMAO!!!! Evidentally though his band was the first punk-rock band ever. I have always liked this song, it is so catchy though! His hand movements crack me up! He does have wild style like Prince. Here is the original: http://www.youtube.com/wa...kvK638yKuY I wanna b ur fantasy and maybe u could be mine!

If you listen to "Shake" by The Time P has these "96 Tears" keyboard parts in there.
The same vibe was suggested on Grand Funks "We're An American Band" by TR. β"The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Interesting that you should point that out, because I've always thought the same exact thing. "96 Tears" is a great song. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I can definitely see and here some similarities, especially when at the very end he's singing "tears" "tears" "tears". He's not making major dance moves, but this is the way Prince dressed when he was younger on some videos.
Absolutely, this guy reminds me of Prince is some ways.

Uh...I don't get it. No similarity at all. Corny song. Even cornier band. "Bring friends, bring your children and bring foot spray 'cause it's gon' be funky." ~ Prince
A kiss on the lips, is betta than a knife in the back ~ Sheila E Darkness isn't the absence of light, it's the absence of U ~ Prince

From Wikipedia:
Question Mark and the Mysterians (rendered ? and the Mysterians on the record label) were an American rock and roll band formed in Bay City, Michigan, in 1962. The group is best known for its song "96 Tears," a garage rock classic recorded in 1966 that reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and would go on to sell over one million copies and receive a BMI award for over three million airplays. Rudy Martinez, the lead singer, legally changed his name to Question Mark (?). Question Mark and the Mysterians was perhaps the first band to be described as punk rock[1], and also may be the first Latino rock group to have a general audience hit record in the United States. The group named itself after the 1957 Japanese science fiction film The Mysterians, in which aliens from the destroyed planet Mysteroid arrive to conquer Earth. The band's frontman and primary songwriter was Question Mark. Though the singer has never confirmed it, Library of Congress copyright registrations indicate that his birth name is Rudy Martinez. His eccentric behavior helped to briefly establish the group in the national consciousness. He claimed (and still claims) to be a Martian who lived with dinosaurs in a past life, and he never appears in public without sunglasses. |

(see post #6) I use to work for the label that published "96 Tears". I had to speak & deal with most of the company's songwriters every six months. ? (don't call him Rudy - EVER) gave me headaches whenever we spoke. He's harmless (I hope) but seriously believes he can speak to the dead. He has a kennel and raises tiny dogs. Hey, for them I didn't mind getting a headache. "96 Tears" is really a good song. It's record sales are good considering the song was written over 40 yrs ago. Didn't XTC or The Stranglers or someone cover "96 Tears"? It does have a similar keyboard riff to "Shake!" as I recall but nothin like it in terms of overall sound... Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.
