A song for Princes son

I know many people say that wasted kisses was a song about his son gregory who sadly died. But would anyone love to hear a real heartfelt song from Prince where its just him and a piano or an accoustic guitar and he is really breaking his heart. I can imagine it to have the same feel as GOD or Power Fantastic. Just that lovely eery haunting feel. That would really bring all the goosebumps up on everyone.

I do like that fact that he doesn't really talk about his personal life in songs which marred many artists over the years but do you think if he did this he could produce a really emotional song?

Gosh... I really don't think he would ever combine the horrible emotions one feels after such a sad loss with possible business. Even if writing a song about it helped, he (I) would never release it.

yeah i can imagine it being a real tough thing to do. And i know he would never do it but can you imagine how emotional and special it would sound? Just personal.

The song 'Comeback' from the acoustic 'Truth' album is like this.

Listen to the lyrics (about loosing someone close and their spirit returning), the pure, beautiful, subtle way it's sung - it ooses sadness and emotion.

I love it when he does these kind of emotionally driven songs, they're so touching.

I think it's about his son...

Some people also say "Until U're in My Arms Again" relates to this.

I don't see how anyone can think "Wasted Kisses" is about the death, though. That would be really sick.

imo this is one of perhaps 2 or 3 things that should NOT be discussed
on here.

anyone who's been close enough to something similar knows why. it's a
very disrespectful thing to bring it up here.

Maybe not disrespectful because the OP didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but the topic is very touchy and difficult to talk about unless you have been close enough to something like that, but after that you usually don't want to talk about it sad

i just think that it's a subject which no matter how delicate you
treat it or with how much sincerity you try to talk about it, it
just remains something extremely private. none of us have any real
business talking about it or to speculate on it, even if it is in
a sideways train of thought concerning songs or such.

I think Sometimes it snows in april is a song you've described. But it's not our place to bring up the deceased people in that man's life. Fisrt his mom now his son. Let's show some respect.

Wasted Kisses is generally regarded to be about breaking up with a particular woman rather than the loss you describe. As others have mentioned "Comeback" (especially) and "Until Ur In My Arms Again" are more appropriate examples of songs about loss.

Prince Comeback Lyrics:
Walking up the stairs
Just the afternoon
Sweet wind blew
Not a moment 2 soon
(Hoo) I cry when I realized
That sweet wind was U

Spirits come and spirits go
Some stick around 4 the aftershow

Don't have 2 say I
miss U (don't have 2
say I miss U)
Cause I think U already know
If U ever lose someone
Dear 2 U
Never say the words their gone
They'll come back, yeah
They'll come back, yeah yeah
They'll come back
Tears go here
Tears go here
Tears go here

I've always considered Comeback to be about the loss of his son.
Beautiful song.

I agree. I think it is way too personal. Maybe the mods will delete this thread out of respect.

As long as the discussion remains within the boundaries of good taste I don't see why we can't comment on the songs people suspect refer to his tragic loss.

Cloudy is right. The original poster was merely asking "But would anyone love to hear a real heartfelt song from Prince where its just him and a piano or an accoustic guitar and he is really breaking his heart" - Prince has in fact recorded may songs in exactly this vein, most commonly about being wronged or love lost etc...

The thread title is what is throwing us off (can we change that cos it's not really what the thread is about)

i agree. as long as what we're talking about here is songwriting and what we think might have inspired certain song lyrics, i don't think we're out of bounds.
