No shit. Did I, or did I not say that I am not fond of his "current" musical output? I can be here because I enjoy his previous work.

And the word is spelled y-o-u.

Psycho. You don't even merit a response. Seriously. But here's one anyway. What exactly is it that bores you? That there is an ever-increasing number of people who are not as hopelessly devoted to this dimming pop star? That we don't slavishly adapt our use of the English language to whatever silly 3rd-grade level whim he might express? And you try to correct someone else's spelling? Come on, now...

And if we're going to talk about recycled crap, we should discuss about 3/4 of the songs on his last 3 albums.

Again, genius, the correct spelling is y-o-u. You. Not "u." Did you model your diet after Prince, too? Do you dress like him? Did you become a Jehovahs Witness because of him? How many tattoos of that silly symbol of his did you get in 1994 & now regret?

And in fact, I have a very clear sense of irony, but when dealing with people like you, it's the psychotic-stupidity meter that's buzzing.

I think I'll stick around just to piss off people like you.

Prince is a lot of things, one of which is most definitely a pop-star, albeit a fallen one. We can get into debates about the definition of the term, but at its simplest, its someone who became a star thanks in part to his "pop music," & image. That's most definitely descriptive of your hero, although not these days. Now he makes news by threatening his fans with legal action. Awesome!

ZZZZZ....

You know, I don't see ANYTHING, ANYWHERE that defines bitterness as having a less than slavishly devoted opinion of your icon. As pathetically enamored of him as you seem, you're the last person that should be telling someone else to get a life.

You want to make it seem as if I care that you are so pathetic. Truth of the matter is, I don't. However, that does not mean I shouldn't be here, or that there's a chance in hell of my listening when you tell me to "go." I have just as much right to be here to enjoy Prince for what he was than you do, for what you think he still is.

I'm staying right here, "sunshine." Feel free to worship the man as you see fit, but until you create your own website, with your own rules, don't dare tell me how to feel or where to go.

And lastly, I'm more of a Sign o' the Times fan than Purple Rain, so shows how little you know, despite how much you want to talk.

It is hard to peg his demographic. For example, the Jonas Brothers were on GMA yesterday morning. The interviewer asked them who was on their iPods, and the first three people they named were Elvis Costello, Johnny Cash and Prince. That knocked my socks off. I was not expecting that. So, who knows who's listening to Prince.

prince is much more popular then you think.
in serbia country where i live a lot of people listen to prince.
little trivia:
when purple rain come out half of belgrade was waiting on the cold rain all night before biggest music store opens to buy purple rain.

,

I was really referring to long term proper fans. Serbia probably has some big time Prince fans but I was not really describing people who bought Purple Rain (And I surprised the communist authorities of the time would allow decadent capitalist music). True fans are ones who have most albums and take a geniune interest in the man.
I forgot to mention Japan has a huge Prince following and I suspect a few wealthy Chinese, Taiwanese, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Koreans like him too. I know Michael Jackson used to be a god in these areas

huggie bear you are right about being a strange thing that comunist country like former yugoslavia liked decadent culture fom west.

but thatisnt strange because yugoslavian leaders were comunist
but majority of people were not.
in 1969 yugoslavia had their own version of musical "hair" and main actress was naked on stage during every show.
in 1980 yugoslavia had a new wave scene that was as strong and as good as the world new wave scene.

this is the most famous band in yugoslavia.
if you look at them and their music you would agree they look very decadent, this video is from 1975.

so huggie bear its not strage for lot of yugoslavian people to
like prince and decadent american culture biggrin biggrin biggrin

You forgot highly-educated, high income professional African-American males and females 30 - early 50s, and some older. I know some lawyers, nurses, educators that are members on this site and meet that demographic and have shown up at his concerts.

Why does one have to he highly-educated to listen to Prince? His lyrics are not that difficult to understand.... LOL lol
High income? I don't think so.
[Edited 2/16/09 15:16pm]

What?? Who said a fan "had" to be "highly-educated" to listen to Prince's music? rolleyes Did you actually pay attention to the question or just responded for the sake of responding? Tells a lot about you. lol Not surprised though. The question was in regards to the "demographics" of Prince's fans, and yes by the way there have been fans from various, economic levels, including those with what is considered "high-incomes" that have attended Prince's concerts, it would be silly to think that they haven't.

Banished one, sorry about that, I know the authorities would try to ban Western Music in the communist era, but the people would listen to him anyway theu could, and yes I understand 80s Yugoslavia was more easy going than the Soviet Union like Hungary, Czechslovakia and East Germany (minus the Stasi) had communism lite by that stage. What I find funny was the first group to play Eastern Bloc was Boney M in 1979, the Elton John, Wham and Billy Joel and that most concerts were full of the party cadre, but people got to hear them too. I was pleased to find out the leaders allowed a Prince album when it came out and not two years later on a sanitised melodia (Soviet) label version (The Boney M one left Rasputin out for historical reasons). Thanks for enlightening me, I have always been fascinated by the former Yugoslavia, here in New Zealand especially West Auckland we have a large community of Croatians who migrated about 120 years ago who have settled here and I have a few friends with names like Stancich and Vukosovich, they run the wine growing industry here as they were mostly from Dalmatia. biggrin

Everyone else I say educated, as every fan I have met seems to be at least of average education and many have university and technical qualifications, I have yet to meet a factory labourer dropped out of school at 15 Homer Simpson/Peter Griffin type fan yet lol (Unless its I loved that Purple Rain album and didnt he sing Beat it). One guy saiod middle class 35t and overweight, I nearly fit the demographic, 32, home on mortgage, lol weigh 207pounds razz at 5'10 tall. eek
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time
