Apparently Prince said this recently in defense of a rather horrid comment he was alleged to have made.

It appears simultaneously vacuous and loaded.

Anyone have any idea what he was trying to express?

Gosh. The debates on that one raged on here for weeks. Look through the threads and you'll find them. (Sorry don't know how to link - someone'll probably help you out)

He's also the guy that said music should be free and is threatening to sue fans for every imaginable thing you can come up with.

I'm not saying Prince is homophobic--what I am saying is take everything Prince ever says in one of his useless, uninformative, interviews with a grain of salt.

I do not think he's a homophobes--just terrible at articulating his religious views out loud. He acts as if every one of his new 'discoveries' is something completely new in the course of mankinds own religious speculations--and his ability to articulate this "new" outlook falters from time to time.
His homosexual comments are just like his anti-women comments in that he's not singling them out so much as just trying to sound reformed and smart--which of course makes him soudn stupid.

Just be glad he's not Ted Nuggent or something.

I think he was just trying to difuse the situation without losing face.

You know what things are like today, someone is quoted as saying something, it's all over the net in hours of being printed/aired and it becomes this huge thing because it gets quoted and the quotes get quoted, etc.

Prince just blows hot air. The only value in his interviews is gaining tiny bits of insight about upcoming projects---and often, those aren't accurate either.
