Am I the only one who thinks that this is about him promoting others and maybe selling albums- I don't think this site will have nearly as much to do with him as you guys think...I think it will be his version of I-TUNES

we'll probably be allowed to pay to download shows, etc...

Whatever it is, it's just really boring, old-fashioned and badly designed.

First... just to serve 'some' music up like samples or appetizers for the bigger meal coming. Everyone may not like what Prince has been serving... but it has everyone wanting to have a bite of what ever it is.

Second was too test some of the site's script technologies to a live audience to deter ripping music/video files.. When the music files were first put up... they went through no less than three ways of streaming the files. One included going with 30 second snips. Currently its not impossible to rip the tracks... but much harder.

Third... whether good publicity or bad publicity he has created publicity. People are talking and curious no matter what they say or how many times they say they aren't (which truly means they are). From the site to the music people can't stop talking. (or whining)

Prince hasn't always gone about things in the best way possible... but it has worked for him and is why he continues to do it. I read post every day of people saying how tired or frustrated they are with him... his music... and/or his antics.... yet....

here they are.

It works.

Oh... I should have added a fourth.... but even though he could have gone about it in a different way.... he is using the 'purple ticket' promotional aspect of the site to attract people in and apparently 'win' opportunities to see him at some exclusive sets. The site unveiling party was one.... the Oscars after party (which I was told will be at the Avalon... but don't quote me) looks to be another.

I don't really care anymore. That place creeps me OUT!
