Prince has cared about the "world's unbalanced conditions," and I believe that He has a mindset to do what He can throughout his lifetime.

Hi,
The coolest thing i've read about Prince is when he was at a restaurant about a couple of years ago,and he ordered a drink that costs like $5.00 and he gave the waiter a $100.00 and he told him to keep the change. Now isnt that cool?

Another incident pertains to a lady anchor woman.Acouple of years ago,a lady anchor woman on CBS early morning show was asked how did she get her big break. She said she was originally from Minneapolis; she explained when she moved to new york. She was new in town; all of a sudden out of nowhere, she saw Prince at the stop light in his car. He recognizeed her, pulled to the curb, spoke to her, and asked her what she was doing in this area of town.she said she had no where to go and Prince gave her a ride and allowed her to stay with him for a while untill she was able to get on her feet. She mentioned Prince knew one of her relatives,so it wasn't like he did not know her,but still he actually stopped the car and was concerned about her safety is very sweet.

Well, there is a southern town called Princeville that needed funds. Prince donated around $40,000 to help the town and don't forget about the monies he donated to the school in Vietnam during the promotion of 3121 fragrance. He has also asked for can goods to help families from fans who have attended his concerts. What I love about Prince, he keeps it simple and quiet. He doesn't have to blast it from the rooftops when he helps someone out. He is cool like that..... cool cool cool

Yeah. It reminds me of the b-side, 'Hello'

"We're against hungry children, our record stands tall."

He was doing charity way before it became an 80's music cliche'

During the celebration in Minneapolis in 2002, when he took everybody who attended that week to the movies and paid for it. To this day, I can't believe he did that. Can you imagine how much that must have cost him (not that money is a problem for him, mind you).
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Both of those things of course. Also when he did the Tower Records signing in NYC back around 92. It was really a fun time. I also liked when he played The Palladium and had the VIP Passes and we were Privy to Food upstairs. It was also Cool when he was doing Jam Of The Year ...In Nyc he played Madison Square Garden Tramps and then Trump Casino and then that same tour he did Radio City Music Hall and he did play Jones Beach. We got to see him so many times it was GREAT! It was also Cool to see him at Club USA/The World, Roseland Aftershow back in 1988 after Madison Square Garden, Cool in Minneapolis when he did the Celebration for a week at Paisley Park and then took us all out to see Minority Report at the CHANHASSEN THEATER. Also, after RUPERTS when he had the Private party at Paisley Park with a DJ spinning records and I did have drinks then. There have been alot of Fun Cool things Prince has Done, but I'm a VERY SPOILED CHILD who WANTS MORE!!! biggrin

"Minority Report" - that was the name of the movie. I couldn't remember it, for some reason. err lol

Yeah that was way kewl....I was there that nite when the air conditioning broke at Paisley and after Prince did his set he kept saying "U all are going to the movies with me tonite right?" Just follow the white limo!!....I really thought he was joking until we were walking out and my friend asked one of the security guys if Prince was serious and he just shook his head like Prince just lost his damn mind or something,...LOL!!

And sure enoug there is like a traffic jam of cars leaving Paisley driving down the road to the theater at 2AM and it was Pajama nite so we were all in our jammies...smile

Once we were all there my friend and I went out to the concession stand to get drinks and popcorn and Prince peeks around the corner and orders an orange drink and popcorn....the lobby went dead silent and after he went back to his seat my friend speaks up to the line "Alright everybody, change ur orders!!" LOL!!

I thought Prince was joking too, and could not tell if he was just serious or just playing around. Turns out he was serious. lol Wish I could have been there when Prince peeked around the corner and ordered an orange drink and popcorn. That would have been awesome!!

Man, well aside from what was said here. I seen many things personally and publically. I lived in Minneapolis from 1992 to 2002. Here are some of my recollections:

1. The Detroit interview with Mojo.
2. Not releasing the black album (his spiritual reasoning)
3. Challenging his record company and putting SLAVE on his face.
4. Writing the song dolphin in protest.
5. Allowing different groups to play at Love4OneAnother concerts at Paisley Park.
6. Playing at Bunkers in 1995
7. Opening a concert upstairs at Glam Slam while he layed on the floor on his back,
8. At one of the Glam Slam concerts he got up on the bar and kicked some glasses with his high heels. I never seen him do that ever again.
9. Writing songs about people and they don't always realize it (Billy Jack Bitch etc.)
10. Having Kiss at #1 and Manic Monday at #2 simultaneously on the billlboards hot 100.
11. Having a retail store in Minneapolis called NPG
12. Chicago After show in 95 with Buddy Miles.
13. Not giving up after being booed from a Rolling Stone concert.
14. Removing the bass line from When Doves Cry.
15. Saying F U by his action without saying it (re. Warner Brothers).
16. Releasing Get Off with his hand drawn album cover and forcing Warner Bros to release Diamonds and Pearls.
17. Eating at Ruperts Barbeque after hanging out at Glam Slam.
18. Taking a carvan of people out to Paisly Park to watch him perform (or in many cases just hang out. I use to play some mario game he had there). He would just walk around. Playing peek-a-boo with women (hide behind a drape, then look again). He mainly watched people and interacted. Sometimes he would just look at you like, who the hell are you. LOL This is all true which makes it even cooler.
19. Doing a Benefit for Chick Huntsberry's family after Chick passed away. Now that was very nice of him.

I can think of more, but thats all for now.

I miss that NPG store. It was a dream come true for us Prince fans, and gave us the chance to buy various Prince items. When I was there, Prince's white convertible was in the center of the store. cool

Years ago, he donated a significant sum of money to some school for musical instruments or something. $100,000 rings a bell? That was probably the last admirable thing he's done.

Back during the Crystal Ball online ordering days (1997), shipping was delayed and it was made available in stores before those of us who pre-ordered it got ours.

Well, when my Crystal Ball finally came, it also came with an Emancipation lyric book (which if you don't have one, it's very cool), a Jam Of The Year T-shirt, and a cassette copy of "The War" . . . all for free. I thought that was cool.

let's not forget about the coat drives he used to do alot, and the whole love4oneanother concerts that all went to charity.

as for the minority report thing too....I was there and what I think most people don't think about is...that theater was closed for the night....it was 2am when we went there....he must have had to rent out the whole place, pay the staff and all. I suppose it could have been a 24 hours movie theater...but I highly doubt it was.

all of the celebrations were so cool of him to do. The tours (I mean really...we all got to sit in the studios at the consoles for cryin' out loud!), the shows, the activities....all really really special to fans.

All his efforts to get his biggest fans the best seats at his concerts.

another thing I want to mention is his contribution to music, and the music industry ....he has profoundly effected it in the most amazing ways. He will go down in history. smile

GREAT thread herb4! bravo! clapping
"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok

I also want to add if it wasn't said already, the fact that Prince allowed fans into his HOUSE. Not just Paisley Park but the place where he falls asleep. Now that is super cool right there. I don't see Madonna, MJ, Britney, Beyonce, NIN or anyone else doing all of that.

For myself I would say both Paisley Park Celebrations, and Webster Hall. I'm still ticked off that wasn't able to go to the Paisley Park Celebrations (I was too young and broke at the time).

Are you kidding? Only a very select, small-numbered few wore PJs that night. The rest of us were wearing normal clothes. I definitely remember that night. And yes, the movie thing was kinda cool.

Another cool event was in some country over in Europe during the Lovesexy Tour, he took and treated a busload of fans to McDonalds. I don't remember the exact details of the story, though, but that's the gist of it.
