Why don't we celebrate good music together? Music should unite and not divide. If one does not reconize himself.....should he go unnoticed?  Thank you Graycap! I was going to say something similar. I mean really, how long should black, Latino, Asian, Arab, etc. people sit around and hope to be invited to the party? I have no respect for a man, a people who do not do for themselves. People must honor and cherish themselves instead of waiting for others to validate them. If non-white people sat around waiting for some idyllic equality to arrive and bestow upon them equal opportunity and accolades, they would still be waiting for that opportunity and recognition. Award shows, organizations, media, schools, programs, etc. that help to strengthen the self-esteem, offer opportunities, and affirm the greatness of those who are widely and routinely discriminated against will always have a place in a society that refuses to recognize and treat all of its members as equals.perfection is a fallacy of the imagination... | |

It took me a while 2 find the NAACP Image Awards thread. Didn't think it would be here.
Anyway... WOW. I was already all choked up during Muhammad Ali's award presentation, then I see Stevie NAILING "Black Man", and at the end, when they say "...44th President, Barack Obama, a Black man..." and the crowd erupted, I was cryin like a little baby. Also, Will Smith's acceptance speech was so heartfelt, and well said. I'm a bit surprised Prince wasn't there, considering Ali alone. PEACE> ~G "He's a musician's musician..." | |

I caught most of the show, and Ali being honored. Jennifur Hudson's song to him , was of course, perfection! I have to give it up to her. I couldn't imagine getting "out there" right now, while she's still so fresh in the process of grieving for her loved ones. Everytime I've heard her sing lately I get goose bumps. She has such a powerful voice!!! | |

I was there and it was a beautiful ceremony....2 bad Prince lost but i would have been there 2 accept in his honor. Since I'm his biggest fan that don't talk bad about the way he puts out music, wears his hair, runs his business,chooses 2 date,throws his parties, chrages his fans, drives his car, eats, laughs, drinks, talks,etc...lol  will ALWAYS think of  like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. | |
