Once again I have to come up in here and let you all know that Mr. Hayes is not I repeat is not gay. I have been friends with him for many years and he is not. So stop saying this about my friend. Nothing against anyone of you who is gay cause that is your business but stop spreading a lie.

sorry , i love Mr.H, have spoken to him several times over the years. If he is gay I couldn't care less. I thought he was based on the an old debate on the org where he thanked his'partner' on the Exodus sleeve notes who happened to be a man. No offence intended to H or any associates.

I think he was just trying to difuse the situation without losing face.

You know what things are like today, someone is quoted as saying something, it's all over the net in hours of being printed/aired and it becomes this huge thing because it gets quoted and the quotes get quoted, etc.

Sure, but I just don't understand why he had to mention the Bible as it suggests something a little... ummm, questionable. For want of a better word.

It would have been more reasonable to have just said something like "I'm cool with gays, there's no issue there."

I simply can't figure what he was trying to imply, is all.

Maybe prince was saying that he actually has gay friends, and he doesn't hate gay people,so much so that he feels so comfortable around them that he can actually read the word of God with them.Keep in mind reading the bible with some one is a thing that most people just dont do with just anybody,so i feel whom ever he does this with, he is seriously comfortable with them.

It's me again,
As for Prince sexuality,a couple of years ago Oprah Winfrey during the Emancipation Cd interviewed Prince and Mayte. She actually went to visit Prince' house and she did her taped interview there at his place.I remember during their interview she asked him a question about his sexuality or his sexual preferences and he told her "Well whatever floats my boat" I took that to mean that he was bisexual. I hope some one else on here can also confirm that Oprah Winfrey interview and what Prince said to her smile

I seriously doubt that Prince hates gay people.

What's with questioning the use of the word hate when talking about a questionable comment concerning gay people? Do you think for even a second that if Prince had uttered something questionable about any other minority that people would be defending it as his "opinion" or his "belief"?

I am so tired of hearing anti-gay bias defended as just an opinion. The same comment directed at anybody else would be shot down as hate with the quickness.

Do I think Prince hates gay people? No. But I do think he's allowed himself to give up common sense for religious dogma, and wouldn't be surprised if he had a few issues of his own about sexuality or gender to begin with.

The lil guy either needs to clarify his statement, or just shut his mouth on the matter.

Would u feel someone hates u because of a difference in "opinion" or "belief"?
Atheists shoot down Christian beliefs most times but I know it's not merely about hating the person, nor do I feel hated by the person.
My reason for my previous statement wasn't to defend or side with Prince for his misquoted statement. It's just that the meanin of the word hate has no place with regards to the "alleged" statement.

Yeah, it's a real logical leap to think Prince shares views on homosexuality with the religion he now belongs to. And his telling Wendy and Lisa they had to change their lifestyle wouldn't bear any relevance to this topic either, would it? Or that the journalist has no history of fabricating stories. Why do those pesky, logical, anti-famatic facts always get in the way? Shoot.

As for differences in religious beliefs, that's another topic entirely and a red herring to this argument. Nobody is denied legal rights in America because of their faith or lack thereof. However, denying a fellow tax-paying, law-abiding citizen the same rights you're granted because you think they're different and not on equal footing with you, is the textbook definition of a bigot. America isn't a theocracy and just like the KKK and Good Old Boys network isn't allowed to point to the book of Titus for being able to own a slave any longer, nor should bigoted small minded people be allowed to point to whatever obscure 2,000 year old passages they're currently using to deny fellow Americans equal rights in the arena of marriage. Simply put, if Prince or anyone else believes another human being isn't deserving of the same rights, they therefore are not granting them equal status, and are therefore, a bigot.
No hard feelings.

This isn't about 'opinion" or "belief" at all, no matter how some folks will try to frame it. Homophobia is not merely a difference of opinion. Comparing it to theist versus atheist doesn't work, because religion is a matter of choice. Sexual orientation is a matter of being.

The best part of having a gay Bible reading is that you can act out the bits where it says what naughty naughty people we are. Although I doubt this is what prince meant razz The robes remain quite silly froks anyway...
