I know P-diddy & Chris Rock were front & center. Lenny Kravitz was there sporting his Lovesexy doo.

That's a good question. I'd also like to know what some other musicians thought of his performance, especially Clapton. There was something magical about that solo. It brought me to my feet (in my livingroom:). [Edited 2/9/09 23:25pm]

You can see Keith Richards during one of the breaks go over to Prince to talk to him with quite a bit of enthusiasm. It looked very much congratulatory in nature.
This was probably after Prince’s first performance of his own material and his induction, but I have no idea how the night was edited. Other Rolling Stones back in the 80s professed Prince’s musical genius, but Keith Richards did not. So one can probably derive at least a little from that unheard conversation. Maybe somebody can produce an article that quotes Keith Richards. I can’t find one quickly doing a Google search. Lots of guitarists can juggle 5 pins in the air at one time. This is very impressive and shows incredible dedication to one’s craft. But this solo to me goes way beyond anything that you can achieve through bloody fingers. It was awe-inspiring and I wish I still had it on video or could purchase it in audio because the whole 10-minute track (or whatever it was) is one of those rare television musical moments worth keeping forever.

Not sure, but my favourite version of this song is the one played on the ukulele on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/wa...=1&index=1 Actually it's one of my most favourite played pieces of music ever. Such beautiful harmony, phrasing and passion. Truly wonderful.

Amazing performance.
I love Prince guitar solos, I get goosebumps every single time I hear them....it's as if his soul comes through somehow and they can be either extremely sexy notes, sad notes or really emotional ones.... This was awesome and yes, I also really dig how he just throws the guitar up and leaves. Pure funky-man style. "When I want to hear good music, I write it myself"

I have to admit, I thought this was going to be a joke, but that IS a really beautifully-played piece. It's fantastic. Thank you very much for posting it!

I just hope the Hall of Fame performance is posted in Lotusflow3r sometime...I'm sure the sound/pic quality would be better on his site. I was actually surprised that it wasn't on there already, considering all the other clip from older performances??

I and a bunch of Detroit / Cleveland Prince fans were in Cleveland for the simulcast at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

You can see Lenny Kravitz in the audience. He straightened out his hair in homage to Prince before cutting it off into a tight afro.
