One Night Alone Live Set - those who have it

Describe it for fellow members, in 5 words.

I'll go first.

Healing
Engrossing
Kick-ass biggrin
Hypnotic
Endearing

I decided to add my mini-review to this post. biggrin

I'll sum it up in one sentence: All the interactivity of Prince and the audience is priceless. That is what makes this set worth it.

I keep listening to it. The music is awesome, the band sounds tight, Prince sounds like he is having a great time, and you can feel the audience. It would not be nearly as great without their participation!

You, the fans of Prince are the real stars of this set. Consider it YOUR set, as many of you are in the audience showing your love, singing songs close to your heart, and singing them to an artist that has made many of you feel good for a long time.

Treasure it, it's a keeper.

u mean the fans who were recorded afterwards & overdubbed on2 the record.
JoyInRepetition...the audience singing back 2 P was recorded at an afterparty at sometime later on the tour, its not the audience at the actual gig.

It's cool and all, but I think I've been spoiled by having heard pretty much everything already on boots! Don't get me wrong...it's GREAT hearing most of everything on soundboard cuz I haven't heard it this clean in a while. The crowd noise does seem a little added in at parts, obviously to make it seem like one continuous concert, so I don't think I have too much of a problem with that.

I can certainly hear the overdubs in Joy In Repetition on the Aftershow disc. Some of the keys are extra! LOL! I almost prefer the audience recording of this song on that particular boot! The bottom is heavier there, and it sounds a little more raw! smile And Free and Starfish and Coffee NEVER sounded like that on tour...some obvious instrumental overdubs there! But again, I'm not complaining! Too bad we couldn't get this for ALL seven nights of this year's Celly. Those are the SB performances I REALLY want. Those and some of the overseas shows.

And if some of y'all think the general public will love hearing the musicianship of this band on this album, he ought to try releasing some older SOTT/Lovesexy performances on SB! They are STILL the masters and prime examples of what a Prince band SHOULD be!

I don't know how you can write so much bullshit in such a short post.

I was there back in 86/87/88. I have seen every great Prince bands and the last one is absolutely amazing as the one he had back in 1995.

Joy In repitition is absolutely amazing on It ain't over. The guitar work is totally amazing.

In terms of overdubs...they are extremly minimal. And if you compare the overdubs on that live to the ones on most live cds nowadays let's say they are almost inexistant then.

You've yet to prove where the bullshit was in that post! I never said I DIDN'T like JIR on this set! I just said I heard a couple of overdubs, which wasn't a big deal to me, though I might prefer to listen to the boot's version. As a matter of fact, I posted that I felt this version was absolutely jammin' about 3-4 months ago! So, get the facts straight.

Furthermore, I never said this current band wasn't great, but I just said the SOTT/Lovesexy band was better. What's your problem? And you can't tell me they're not better...at least they could dance AND sing backup AND play some of the baddest music to hit the planet! As a matter of fact back in '94 Prince himself was comparing his NPG band to the Lovesexy band saying he was trying to get them to that level of musicalility. So, you know even he thought they were pretty much tops! I still don't see where there was negativity in any of my post, but if MFs take anything besides totally sucking his dick on everything as negative, then so be it!!
