Any word on a big box retailer?

Haven't heard much lately about the big box retailer that P was supposedly in

final negotiations with. Not a word has been spoken about this even in press

circles. USA Today seems to indicate that the 3 albums will just be released

through his website, at least initailly. Do you think that these final

negotiations fell through, that P has changed his mind about going this route

in conjuction with the website or that this retailer's name is being

secretly withheld by all parties involved.

I would think P would want some distribution other than his site because only

fams and an undetermined portion of the rest of the audience would buy the

cds through his site. What do you think is going on?

At least two orgers know which retailer will be stocking the CDs.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Wasn't CC bust?
Also: the world is bigger than just the USA.
And: Can we entrust online ordering and mailing out several thousands of items to Prince? Did we forget the CB fiasco?

Target? Great - that's 5% of the world's population catered for. That only leaves out the two hundred and odd other countries where there are no Target stores.

Prince does not have any record company affiliation, so assuming Target has the

exclusive to sell his albums, how does he get his songs to radio (if that was

his intention)?

I'm sure he has thought about that and has plans for distribution in other

countries. There aren't even any Target stores in Canada, at least not on the

west coast. If I'm not mistaken, even Toronot and Montreal don't have stores.

I hope you're right - selling things over the web has never been P's strong point. But the world sometimes seems to end at the borders of the US.

Being European, I can't resist the odd mocking stereotype:

I speculate:
Target for the obvious reason that it is a Mpls company. It would be logical that the store would like to try something like the Walmart + AC/DC experiment. Target is a good choice for US distribution. 2nd to Walmart but not steeped in pubic dislike... Plus Target has the Prince fragrance...

The folks in Hawaii and Vermont are out of luck, too! No Targets there! mad However, Target is in Australia! cool

Wait a minute, there really isn't any company

He might have to pick a few distributors to hit
