NEW: The Work/$ Don't Matter 2nite...Old Songs from the Vault

Why is everyone so obsessed with releasing old songs form the vault. PLEASE!...Everyone knows what kind of artist Ptince is. Everyone knows that he primarily lives in the now. U have known this, U do know this, and U will know this. Constantly on this site I hear complaints about his old stuff is better he should release that stuff instead of new stuff. PRINCE DOESN'T WANT U TO HEAR WHAT HE SAID 10 YEARS AGO. He wants U to hear what he said today. He has changed and probobably(bad spelling) doesn't even agree with most of what he said 10-20 years ago. Which is why he doesn't do Purple Rain. He probably likes the song...who doesn't...it's a good song. He probobably doesn't agree with it anymore. He probably feels a lot closer to his spirit than Purple Rain conveys. So people...get your Controversy and Purple Rain CD's out of the player and listen to what someone has to say now instead of what they had said or have been saying

this post stems from a comment I read about a new single of (The Work/& Don't Matter 2nite). The person said they'd rather hear old stuff out of the vault than a new live single. Of the stuff in the Vault worth hearing...U've probably heard it. Everything in the Vault is not the bomb...most of it isn't...which is why it is in the vault and not on record.

since I use the word "probably" enuff...I should probably learn how to spell it.

please resopnd...even flames r welcome

lol @ probobably

I see yr point. Personally I want 2 hear everything Prince has recorded.
His current and future album should consist of songs that are new and bonus stuff 4 the Music CLub could consist of Vaulted material.

I suspect that there are a lot of things in the vault that would be semi-mindblowing if not completely. Take for instance the unreleased I Cant Love You Anymore..a simple piano diddy but with a hell of a hook-melody. Im sure he has a lot of these simple discreet songs. And just think of the out-there things he may have. Some say he has shot his wad and most good quality vault material has already been bootlegged. I think there is more up in there. Maybe 75% crap but can you imagine the other 25%?regardless if he isn't in the same place mentally, emotionally, spirtually or otherwise when he wrote them?

Good point. I don't dispute that there aren't gems in the vault we havn't heard. But it would be like winning the lottery is someone he knew convinced him to release those likely highly personal songs. Like Wally...that got erased b4 it even went to master.(yes, I know, it was re-recorded but with different lyrics and music)

I wouldn't mind getting clean copies of the Madhouse sessions but more than that I WANT Xenophobia. That song haunts me.

You know you are Probably right that some of his Ideology has changed and all. I hope not everything and I hope he will not want us to change that way also, because maybe we don't wanna change Completely you know. He doesn't have to Release Old Music ,because he is so Prolific and he can Create New stuff. He doesn't Need to Curse cause that is neither Here nor There.

I actually think that Purple Rain still has meaning to Prince. "You say you want a leader, but you can't seem to make up yo mind" applies to the Gore/Bush election as does the general theme of the song.

Same for me here, Xenophobia is just mindblowing to me!!! It is some kind of darker, deeper Days Of Wild song, don't you agree?

Pruple Rain is a crowd pleaser why didn't he do it in USA because he had nothing to catch up there, in Europe knowing he didn't come those last 4 years hje had to do some "revisions" with people who hardly knew him... does this mean Europe is genrally less on new music than AMerican couterparts? Regarding this thread's subject I'd say maybe...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Prince did play PR in the US. I believe he started the tour without and later on he started playing more often.
