He always has a hype before a new record and he will most likely have some reviewers compare his new stuff to his golden era hits for a solid first week sales and then as people start hearing the record sales will slide off the charts into obscurity. It's been going on for close to 20 years. The last solid and consistent Prince record was 1988's Lovesexy....
The covers that were HOT were: Dirty Mind Controversy 1999 Purple Rain Around The World In A Day Parade Sign O The Times Lovesexy Black Album(the concept was brilliant and mysterious. At the end of the day it's about design and believe it or not the Black Album was a great concept) Those are all pretty undeniable. But I would add Diamonds & Pearls, The Hits/B-Sides and Come to the list of visually appealing Prince covers. | |

Prince didn't commission the original illustration for Rainbow Children, but did have the same artist render the cover for The Work.  If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |
