The television on the left flickers a old-fashioned Nintendo version of what his site will be. Whats with a cartoon boom-box that animates a cassette tape going into it and glowing purple fumes?....for the newer fams? Sure a hell wont make the site run faster.I know you need the sparklies colors and confetti for the easily impressed fams Cut the kiddie shit already and just have good content. You might have a valid point here. Yea, the sites interface and opening music are reminiscent of a level on Donkey Kong Country for the Super Nintendo, i am just waiting for Donkey and Diddy to come tumbling into the foreground [Edited 2/4/09 10:36am]

That cover is laughable but expected at this point. It's absolutely Photoshop 101 by a burnt out hippie who's just converted to Scientology.
He had a banner when he performed his latest James Brown rip off on Jay Leno that actually looked well put together, shame he didn't make use of it for an album cover or have whoever did the design on it do the art for his latest 'opus'. Then again, judging from the already dated plastic funk or by the numbers dad rock of his latest work, the artwork is on par with the music. No hard feelings.

[Edited 2/4/09 10:25am] No seriously I understand if the cover was like New Power Soul or like Briney Spear's Baby One More Time but is it just to be "in the trend" to spit on Prince everytime he does something? Is that just the cheerleading spirit to undoubtably trash somehting that he cares about? And what do you get from it? You don't even give a logical thesis for your train of thought. Find something that is original to complain about. Yeah i thought Planet Earth was not a good song and so wasnt So Blue from the first album, but I do appreciate and give props when the man works hard to please us; and I got to come back here to see people acting as if Prince actually owes us something. He aint got to do SHIT for us but stay black and die, but you bitches always got soemthing to say. [Edited 2/4/09 11:47am] Straight Jacket Funk Affair

If i loved it like i would say so. The work is from a professional in the arts, so criticism is fair play. I think that the album cover is partly interesting, the idea of the Lotus is interesting, the petals opened, it feels like a new circle and era coming out from a dark "mood"?, but the Prince's image inserted as a Robot isn't attractive... We make our own way to heaven everyday

And not to say it is a BAD cover..it's not. It's not messy, it's not the best 80's over he came out with but it is a nice cover just like Rainbow Children and 3121. And the 1999 cover isnt all that, the Around The World In A Day cover is a mess to me, and the Parade cover is aiight... I mean whats the panties in the bunch for? Because on the internet he has a radio that can play cassette tapes to the songs? What the fuck? Really? I mean.....seriously? It's that serious? [Edited 2/4/09 12:15pm] Straight Jacket Funk Affair

nonsence Yeah but some of the other comments had a real reason behind why they thought it wasnt that great...however most of the people do indeed like it. Hell, its better than the Prince cover, better than the For You Cover, AWTWIAD cover, Beautiful Experience, Chaos & Disorder, NPS and Planet Earth. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I'm not directing my opinion at any particular individual (I respect all my fellow Orgers), but it just seems to me that before Prince can even release something there's an entire mob of folks that have already trashed it. How hard is it to just enjoy something for what it is?
I agree If it is not that great state your opinion, but please show some respect in the same time. Be a real critique. Hosequake actually have in depth commiters on their site. I feel like I am on a Degrassi or Naked Brothers Band website sometimes. I guess i just expect better out of fans of this great artist. Keeping in mind that he is here in this site too and human. I'll grant for the sake of argument that it's subjective but the only cover the Hippie Scientologist Handbook cover might best is The Beautiful Experience. But I guess the (poorly designed) cultish vibe to the cover works in context of Prince's latest attempts to squelch online discussion about him. No hard feelings.

I think the more I look the more that bugs me as that it was made to fit an album shape. Not designed for it. I think the "Prince box" looks like he is channeling the voice of God - Like Metatron. Composition-wise, this reminds me a lot of a mix of the concepts found in and The artist serves as a focal point of the overall composition, even as secondary elements are revealed upon closer study. Ya got me on the first one. I never liked that cover. But Innervisions is nicer art imo. And better composition.I as thinking Talking Book, Fulfillingness' First Finale and Songs in the Key of Life. It is closer to EWF in the 70s/80s, just not as interesting in it's complexity or style.

And yet you think the atrocious ramble of Lotusflower is a keeper? The composition is so slapdash it's as if it was done by a nimwitted nine year old playing with Photoshop filters during a snow day. The depth of field, the light, the colors look as if they don't know if they're illustrating something or readying to turn on each other for survival. It's a complete mess. At least the Stevie Wonder covers have a consistent palette and clean design. No hard feelings.

At least the Stevie Wonder covers have a consistent palette and clean design. The Stevie Wonder art was done in a time when record companies spent a lot of money on their product, hired art directors, artists, graphic design departments and so forth. Even if Prince coudn't afford the services of this kind of talent, i would have much perfered the more personal touch and charm of something like the "1999" or the "gett off" artwork to this run of the mill "web designer" mess [Edited 2/4/09 18:48pm]
