So, yes, exactly as I suspected - your talking from an outside, idealogical persepective and don't really have a grasp of the real issues at stake here.

What are the real issues?
Copyrights?
Protection?
Technology?
Law enforcement?
DRM?

I don't say you don't, so don't give me rhetoric that says so.
It's just that also artists should use new technology.

What I strongly object to, and what is a world away from what you are saying, is the thousands of people who have nothing to do with the creation of my product offering the entire, brand -ew product to anyone that wants it, for free, (regardless of whether they profit from that or not!) without any royalty coming to the creator - it is blatant theft by the perpetrators and the downloaders. And, it is an indisputable FACT that more people will download the product for free than would pay for it.

Yes, so does that mean you lose sales from downloading?
As I said: that is not directly true.
Anyone that is happy with just some songs on an ipod, with CD-Rs etc will not buy the CDs.
So you won't lose sales to them.
This is no a black/white thing, there are various shades of grey.
So maybe the direct sales at concerts etc are closest to a situation without middlemen, with possiblity of fairest and best profit.
But I guess you mean the general music marketplace and wrestle with how to make it fair and reasonable?

Of course we lose sales!! Are you mad? Not necessarily every download would have been a sale - as you say, there are some people that will not pay for music and would not have bought the album otherwise. And, there will be some who are just opportunists. Whilst it is great that many more people are listening to the music, it would feel much better if we didn't feel like we were getting raped by a majority of those listeners!

That's a real whimsical brush-aside from you there and is simply because you don't feel the impact yourself.

Our research (which is limited, due to finances) shows that there are around 50-100 downloads of our album per cd sale - and our limited research may have just scraped the tip of the iceberg - who knows?. So, let me ask you this - if you owned a store, selling I dunno, hand-crafted pottery (let's make it so its not just stock from a supplier, but something you have actually created and put time, effort and love in to) and 50 of your products were stolen for every one you sold - would you really stand behind your "Oh, well, they wouldn't have paid for it anyway" argument? One thing's for sure, whatever you thought about it, you wouldn't be in business for long!

Please be aware of the fact that I don't see this copyright situation as black and white. There are grey areas and yes this means that things aren't fair for content producers. I am not denying that.
I don't feel the (financial) impact myself, but do notice how the choice in music has changed the past few years. What is marketed? And how succesful is it? Is the product actually good?

Also, in your previous reply I read somehow that you were also searching for ways to change this or at least improve this situation.
What possibilities do you see?

Wand how do you think about's P's stance of his photo being taken in a semi-public location?
Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
