Prince and David

Most people would say that as a guitarist Prince's obvious influences would be Carlos Santana, Jimi hendrix and Jimmy Nolen (James Brown) but sometimes his melodic, emotional, 'crescendo' approach reminds me of David Gilmour of Pink Floyd('It', 'Question of U').
Do you think Prince has listened to or been influenced by Gilmour as I think P would appreciate his playing as opposed to the numerous shredders out there who seem to just want to break the speed of sound record?

Who knows? I would guess that Prince isn't a big listener of Pink Floyd since none of his music really resembles anything they have done, IMO. I do know what you mean though, I absolutely love David Gilmour and those two can make a guitar talk like no other and make you feeeeel the song! Also with both of them, the older they get, the better they get!!

Prince has an encyclepedic musical vocabulary and unparalleled ear. He's also a product of the 70's. He knows the music of PF. When I listen to "War" I hear a little PF and Gil Scott Heron.
