In my opinion, an overlooked song on an album full of great songs. Captures, on an album, the feel of Prince's live extended jams. Brilliant in all respects. One of my absolute favorites. Simply a great song. Though, it probably wouldn't lend itself to simple a radio edit.

I'm always amazed that Prince can make such long songs never seem boring or lagging.

Anybody that owned the 'testament' bootleg back in the day, knows that Paris performance was pretty much an instrumental in reality. 90% studio overdubs.

The SOTT version is pretty much fake. In hardly no way, shape or form, did that reflect what was really played that night.

i used to love it, but since i heard the 'true' version, not so much.

i'll take any sott tour version of the song over the album version any day , once you find out how "phony" it is . a classic song anyhow. too bad he doesn't play it anymore .

As a teenager, I didn't like that song or (insert astonished gasp) Adore. Once I grew up a little and my musical tastes became a bit more refined, the entire SOTT album with that song included grew on me very quickly.

Who cares if it's "fake"? It's a studio album. It sounds awesome.

The rehearsal version heard on the 'Now's the time' boot is equally if not more impressive than the album version. The bands reactions to each other after they get through playing it is testament to that.

I thoroughly enjoy this track too, regardless of its creation. It captures live Prince for me too.

And at least it's not badly sliced like a couple of the (truly live) Indigo Nights tracks.

I never listened to the 'real' version, but I always sensed that the official one is heavily built up.
Still, I love it.

SOTT is a studio album which is the reason we get the studio version. According to Eric Leeds this song was created right before the Paris show. My guess is no lyrics exsisted when the jam was recorded at the show.
Lyrics or no lyrics it is still the jam one of these days maybe he will surprise us and play it again.

Really one of the best songs on the album. So funky, so inspired! This song is perhaps the best example of how Prince can make a long song interesting throughout.

Another song that is not mentioned much is Play In The Sunshine. That song is like: take the best of ten ordinary pop songs and put them in a mixer and the end result is Play In The Sunshine. We're gonna get over...
