Battling perceived intolerance with more intolerance. That makes sense.

Alot of the same muhfuckas that would have defended his ass 25 years ago to say anything controversial that he wanted to are now freaking out because they aren't comfortable with his religious beliefs. confused

Don't like the message? Don't listen to it. Call him out for being an ass. Express your disagreement.

But asking him to censor his music so as not to offend?

Fuck that shit.

I really don't think Prince's religious beliefs are that big a deal. If becoming a Witness brings him a sense of peace and happiness, then I'm all for it.

People calling his religion "cultlike" are just childish.

He's not hurting anybody.

This is probably the 2nd most successful period in his career. So obviously, it's not hurting him as much as folks wanna believe.

If he was an alcholic, drug addict, who beat his wife and molested children. People all over this place saying how much they were "rooting for him"!!!

Then don't listen to the songs that have anything to do with God. He's not going to change for you, for me or for anyone in here. He's living his life just like you are living yours. It's that simple.

That's probably the most intelligent thing you've ever said.

Unfortunately, his new music still kind of sucks balls with or without God.

Atheists that I have met have a stunted spiritual growth because they rely on their own belief that they are here without a creator, which is the brick wall of pride, not much different from racists that believe they had a choice in their ethnic upbringing.

The positive side of an Atheist is that they make 180 degree transformations when some people get comfortable with being younger ascended spirits,

JW's are actively encouraged to Evangelise and spread the word to the masses.
Most Christians practice this same doctrine - admittedly not all as fervently as the witnesses. lol But I do admire them for their gusto and dogged determination to talk to you, even though I don’t share all of their beliefs.

Prince chose to join this particular Christian group for a reason; I have good friends who I admire greatly some of whom are muslim and others Jews, yet I don’t feel the need to join either religious group. I say this as a few people like to ‘blame’ Larry for Princes JW conversion, if the doctrine didn’t resonate he wouldn’t be interested so obviously it resonated.
Which makes sense as he has been talking to people through his music for the majority of his life and that is the experience he is most comfortable with. He can, and occasionally does use his songs as a platform to Witness for the church. (However annoying it may be for some)

Im more surprised that he hasn’t yet created a Gospel Album and in contrast to that thought, I was VERY surprised regarding Bria's soon to be released album that he felt the need to release a 'reassurance' that it wasn’t going to be nasty lol That Prince is releasing something that echoes past favourite subject matter (explicit reference to sex) hints that he may be aware that his JW belief alienates some of his fanbase.

Seems as if he is still working on reconciling his musical output and natural leanings subject wise with the JW doctrine, and as annoying as I find some JW’s can be I actually hope he finds a way to reconcile the two that doesn’t compromise his faith.. Even if that way is to totally alienate a portion of his fanbase.

Im a christian. Its always funny how if ur a christian ur already intloerant, gay hating, probably white, narrow minded, dogmatic, racist, elderly, wtf? Does me having a relationship with a God make me all those things? Christianity is an easy scapegoat. I try my best to read & understand my bible & live how I think my God is asking me to do. This bible that I read also tells me that I will not be able to do a perfect job of it. I dont want to write a thread giving reasons why christianity isnt bad. It may be nessesary for someone to write a thread defending my spelling. It just seems so many times that the so called mostley white atheist want to impead my right to beleive what I want to beleive. The majority of the time I listen to people complain about the church, I end up accusing those same people of the very same reasons.

I'm agnostic and I believe I have a creator. My mother and father. We're not made in the image of God. We're made in the image of our mother and father. Weak minded people need to believe there's a God.

Prince has always alienated a portion of his fanbase. Not everyone likes
raunchy lyrics.. Not everyone likes religious lyrics (JW or Pre-JW)!
Not everybody likes rock..Not everybody likes funk! Before I became a JW, I didn't care for the raunchy lyrics or when he mixed religious and raunchy
lyrics
together. I used to curse all the time, but I didn't like curse words in
music...because my parents would make me turn it off! Although Prince was
my favorite artist, I was alienated! The point is Prince can't make everybody
happy! There is still alot of music for everyone to enjoy!

There is no way your a true prince fan...

Is the problem that you think being JW is stopping him from being the 'naughty' Prince? are doing the 'raunchy' songs?

Let's recap here for a minute
In recent aftershows & house parties and London shows
he's performed
Do Me Baby
Sexy Dancer
Irrisistable Bitch
Erotic City(instrumental only this time)
Let's Work
Lady Cab Driver
Hot Thang
If I Was Your Girlfriend

If you have a problem with religious themes with Prince, that is not something new

Controversy(Our Father Prayer)
Annie Christian
God (the Love Theme)
God (the Dance Electric)
* many say Let's Go Crazy Computer Blue & I Would Die 4 U have intermingled religious themes
The Dance Electric
The Ladder
Temptation
4 the Tears In Your Eyes

*Heaven
*Others Here With Us
*A Place In Heaven

The Cross

You must have hated the Lovesexy period/tour
Eye No
Anestasia
I Wish U Heaven

Personnally I think he will leave it, I know some things about the JW and I have some family members that were in it as well as friends. They could be tolerating him because he is famous and maybe think it could be a draw. The denomination has been loosing numbers rapidly over the years.

I think his love for his music may override certain rules he has to follow
Listening to him play some of the 80's jams on his synth:Nasty Girls, Erotic City, Darling Nikki and some other and watching him get off on them...
Then hearing him hit out Turn Me Loose on Jay Leno and then playing some stuff I thought would be off limits in other shows gives me the assumption.

He has mingled JW doctrine and Egyptology. It's apparent in the Rainbow Children

Prince is a grown ass man who can make his own decisions. He doesn't need anyone telling him how to write, what to write, how to sing, or what to do, JUST LIKE no one can tell most of you grown ass people in here what to do. So, if you don't like what Prince does, when you step into a store walk past the Prince cd's and go get a T-Pain one instead. thumbs up! rolleyes

I was healed of migraines in the spring of 1994
I started getting them when I was about 13
It was a Sunday and I had the worst migrain of my life
felt like someone put 3 hot brick in my skull
A minister laid hands on me using the name of Jesus
and it left like someone popping a balloon
never had one since

No one has to believe it
All I know is I have a future and life without migraines anymore

I don't believe that anyone has to leave anything behind them when their minds are open to the face that we all have different avenues that are inspired by God.

As a Christian, I know that I am not a perfect Christian, as we all fall short of that pinnacle.

Ultimately we are all going 2 have our opinions which are judgements of the mind and the heart. God has his arms open for all at any level of attempt of becomming closer to the perfect example.

All we can do is accept where we all are on this world plane, and encourage the lifting of us all.

There are morally divine absolutes, and we know that we are beneath these things. cool
