Favorite Thing about Prince or his music

We're an eclectic group here. We all seem to love different songs, different albums, different hair styles and different lovers that Prince has had over the years. What appeals to each of us about the Man seems to be different depending on who you ask.

For me, I love his ability to storytell in an amazingly catchy, melodic, well put together song. How he paints a picture or conveys a moment in time or a snapshot of a relationship or situatin, but does it in a beautifully delightful way.

Next would be how prolific he is. In particular, how he was nearly unfiltered for many years there, though that seems to have abated to some degree during the last 9 years or so. I like being able to picture Prince's mind, at least marginally, and his feeling based on the song and music he was writing at the time. He's honest with his music. Even as recently as Planet Earth. If you think about a song like 'Chelsea Rodgers' it's very much an ode to a person he was attracted to, either physically or emotionally.

But things like this open more questions than give answers, but that's okay. I can use my imagination to fill in the blanks.

How about you?
I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

It isn't my favorite thing more than a random observation, but I get a certain degree of enjoyment over the fact that not everyone likes him. In fact I would say he has just as many haters as fans.

One my favorite things about him is the fact that I feel alone in my musical faith in the man (not here, but in everyday life). That makes me feel his music on a much more personal level. It sounds strange, but I like the fact that he is under-appreciated. I enjoy keeping his music for myself, if that makes any sense.

I dig almost everything the guy releases (and a bunch of stuff he hasn’t released) wink and enjoy discovering songs I never knew existed and getting that new P tune feeling woot! I mainly enjoy the hit and miss of his songs and writing, it's a challenge during listening to identify which box a tune fits in..

sometimes listening feels like this eek
or even this boxed
but it is usually an enjoyable experience music
One minute they want peace……

Then do everything to make it go away. rolleyes

I love how quirky some of his songs are and he just has random instruments or build up out of nowhere, or sometimes a random lyric or scream that makes you wonder if he just actually did that?

I love how sometimes he becomes an instrument during the song, how the screaming went so well with the guitar and overall mood of Darlin Nikki, and how he captures moods through his music even more than his voice.

I love his soprano and his earliest work is his most creative and pure ever, especially from the first 2 albums, beautiful and underrated

I love how he does rock and guitar the most, and can easily switch to disco/r&b/pop, those transitions were the best in the 70's and 80's
