WHAT MADE PRINCE STOP BEING SEXUALLY PROVOCATIVE ONSTAGE AND CURSING? Why did Prince stop doing dirty and provocative moves onstage?
Did he mature and get tired of it? Did something in his life make him turn to religion and made him beleive he needed to stop? Did he fall in love with someone? Did he make a decision to cleanup his act as his ex-wife was pregnant? Perhaps no-one really knows, but what do you all think? I'd sure like to see him do stuff like that again! I love what he does now as well, and its great that someone can bring their 10 year old kid to see one of his concerts, but none-the-less, his onstage sexual presence is to me and probably to many women (...and men) a part of seing a Prince performance that is missed.

Fear of looking ridiculous?
I don't think he's ever stopped being totally sexually provocative, because his lyrics still have traces of suggestiveness. Nothing wrong with that. But you can only take the explicit aspect so far in terms of years before you become a parody of yourself. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I think he has matured a lot. He is 44 and I for one am glad he's not behaving as if he were 23 BUT a little bit more than suggestive lyrics and comments at shows would be nice! He could shake it for us!

Why does Prince have to continue to play the freak for people? Heaven forbid somone doesn't remain one dimensional for the rest of their career/life. Jagger put his shirt back on, Rod Stewart stopped acting the twit, Madonna has even stopped the outlandish raciness...Did Prince bring the freak out of people that much that it is supposed to last 20 years plus?

A Combination of Larry Graham&HimSelf.Prince never really stopped Being Prince IMHO.I think the Guy is also trying too distance Himself from what He use too be IMHO.for some strange Reason He wants what Prince the Name can bring Him in terms of His Talent&Money but doesn't want no Parts of What Prince from back in the day Once Represented IMHO. mistermaxxx

I agree rdhull. Its not fair to ask that of him and I certainly don't think he is supposed to act the same way he did 20 years ago. F..ck, maybe I'm just being selfish because I missed seing a live performance back then... I was way too yougn and he didn't tour in my small hometown.
Whatever, its all good!!! rdhull said: Why does Prince have to continue to play the freak for people? Heaven forbid somone doesn't remain one dimensional for the rest of their career/life. Well, question is will he Return to that way of Behaving? O.K. so he thinks he should be a little less Raunchy/Whatever. But really, that Sexual/Provocative side is Still Prince. Maybe it's the Religion or the Fact that he wants to Settle Down;however I don't think he should Feel like he's 44 and this is not the Way a 44 should act. Who is to Dictate that type of Behavior? Maybe Prince just got Bored with that Lifestyle or way of Acting who besides Prince Really knows for sure. I just think he is "It" and should Never Change.

it depends on the Person really.I always say Be Yourself.Rudy Ray Moore still talks Cash Shit&hasn't lost His Bite on Stage IMHO.People Make the Entertainers not the other way Around.like the O'Jays said it so well"you got too give the people what they want". mistermaxxx

He has admitted that Larry Graham was the reason he stopped cussing on stage.

Whatever, its all good!!! Don't get me wrong..I fel you and it is almost funny how he has done a 180 in terms of what he does on stage etc...the lasciviousness is still there however but I don't in bits and pieces..I dont want his body like many, or want him to keep up the loverman antics but I'd dig it to see him give head to his geetar one more time. Denise Matthews made a comment about how as Vanity she was told to get on stage half naked and prance around on stage and how people would love her and make her rich. She stated that she and Prince were young back then. She also stated that Prince still thought that way. Well not to long after that statement was printed, Prince began to change his stage persona and personality as well.
