lovebizzare said: Why was Apollonia so upset when Prince did "darling nikki"? was the song supposed to be about her?
Yes. In a previous version of the script, Appolonia's character was going to be called Nikki. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

When Prince kisses Wendy on the cheek I always took
her expression as being tearfully honored, since The Kid always said he wasn't gonna do her music then he takes the song her and Lisa wrote and makes it into a beautiful ballad. I never thought she looked apalled. My name is BISCUIT...and I am funky!

I never thought she looked apalled. THANK YOU, Biscuit I never interpreted it as being apalled. She's crying joyfully, it's a very moving moment if you think about everything that happened to the Kid in that last 24 hours...

I mean, I interpreted his look as being guilty, but not wanting to show it to his band, but there was nothing in the movie to suggest reasoning for his guilt up until that point. At least from his perspective. He probaly felt guilty after he made that remark, "how's the family?" That WAS pretty cold. Nah, that wasn't it. He had some guilty looks before he said that as well. Well when he stod at the wall it was after he said that. I don't remeber him looking guilty before that. I'll check later. No need to check, IMO. You're right - he knows the "how's the family" comment was shitty. He may never admit it to anyone (i.e. his band members) but his look says it all...

Another one: Why is Brown Mark so damned anonymous all through the film? Not only doesn't he speak a word but the camera barely shows him at any point, including performances etc.

Tom said: - Wendy looks absolutely appalled when Prince kisses her on the cheek during the performance of Purple Rain. Her expression is priceless. I think it was in the Princes' Women Rolling Stone issue that Wendy stated that she loves Prince but as a natural reaction to his PDA's she gets embarrassed so she ends up tweaking her face...she says she did this in the Kiss video as well, when he almost kissed her during the guitar bridege etc "Climb in my fur."

How many of y'all truly believed that he was an accomplished ventriloquist when he was alone in the dressing room talking to the pop-up puppet?
And how many of you think he was just ENTIRELY too cute when he stuck out his lower lip and pouted? I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

You know. UI saw that movie when I was eleven in the theater. I remembered balling when he sang Purple Rain...
Anyway, I was watched the movie last night (DVD) and I swear there's ascene missing. Which one? Where Ap-pa-lon-ia (phonics worked for me) is riding is Royal Badness in the barn. I'm I blinking and missing or did they cut it out? _________________________________________

I haven't seen PR in years. However, I've always been curious about the illustration of a woman that appears on a wall. (Can't even tell you what scene it's in.) I've always thought it bared a striking resemblance to the actress who plays Nicky on the Young & the Restless. (Hence, the song "Darling Nikki")
Also, am I the only one who thought Prince's motorcycle was ridiculously HUGE?! You know what they say: the bigger the bike the smaller the...

You people did point out things that I either wondered or haven't noticed before. You all are so funny! But I got one for you... Why when Prince father shoots himself that they make a chalkline of his body? He was still alive!! That was just a little premature don't you think?

Why did Prince tell Appolonia that she has to purify herself in the waters of lake Minnetonka, but takes her to another lake? Why couldn't he just tell her to purify herself in tha water they were already at?

BTW I thought Prince looked absolutley delicious in every scene in every one of his movies and videos, but since we're talking about Purple Rain... I thought he looked oh so gorgeous in the scene when they are waiting to go on stage to sing Purple Rain and he sitting in his chair backstage dazing off into space while he's circling his lips with his finger. Oh-My-Goodness!
