same song with a different name

What's wrong with the world 2day?
Things just got 2 get better
Show me what the leaders say
Maybe we should write a letter

Said Dear Mr. Man, we don't understand
Why poor people keep struggling but U don't lend a helping hand
Matthew 5:5 say "The meek shall inherit the earth"
We wanna b down that way
but U been trippin since the day of your birth

Who said that 2 kill is a sin
Then started every single war that Ur people been in?
Who said that water is a precious commodity
Then dropped a big old black oil slick in the deep blue sea?

Who told me, Mr. Man, that working round the clock
would buy me a big housed in the hood
Cigarette ads on every block
Who told me, Mr. Man, that Eye got a right 2 moan?
How about this bog old hole in the ozone?

What's wrong with the world 2day
Things just got 2 get better
Dear Mr. Man, we don't understand
Maybe we should write a letter

Listen, Ain't no sense in voting - same song with a different name
Might not b in the back of the bus but it sure feel just the same
Ain't nothing fair about welfare
Ain't no assistance in AIDS
We ain't that affirmative about your actions until the people get paid

Ur thousand years r up
Now U got 2 share the land
Section 1 - the 14th amendment says "No state shall deprive any person of life,
liberty, or property, without due process of law"
Mr. Man, we want 2 end this letter with 3 words
We tired a-y'all

I love the song. Dunno what this thread's about, but I love the song.
I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

I've always found this song a bit dull.

I thought it would grow on me but it never did.

I remeber when Musicology came out alot of people were really praising this song and rating it as one of the best on the album, I actually think along with On The couch it's the weakest.

I always really enjoy Musicology up until On The Couch starts and then the album loses it's engergy somewhat, but Reflection is alovely way to finish it.

This is the best song on the album. It ain't even close. This songs has spirit, dynamics and a GOOD sound. That didn't happen all that much this decennium with Prince.

As for the thread title: Prince isn't much into politics, never really has been. I feared he might support one or another side because of a single issue. I'm really glad he didn't. And now his faith has given him a paradigm to support his non-involvement. I find it quite funny that all these people getting their panties in a bunch because of his stance.

Just to add a little bit more. The world knows the solutions 2 the problems...we can't blame any one person for consumption of resources although one person can help under a penny saved is a penny earned.
The world has got to come together without that greedy power that throws everything off balance.
2 reuse and recylcle is very important...Yet reducing the excess clutter that is made daily to sell...all over the world would be energy better spent on making medicines or purifying systems.
One of the things I get mad about is excess plastics winding up in landfills even if they are sorted through. why make 5 plastic pieces of junk to sell at a dollar a piece and not make one plastic useful thing to sell at 3 dollars. ya know...?

The song, overall, is a very deep song.

Right on Tame, I like to think of logical solutions too...

How about this one... instead of to-go place wear (cups, plates, boxes etc)

what if we all had our own "on the go" reusable dish ware that we maintained and carried with us everywhere.....

no more plastic bottles needed, think of it as similar to the reuseable grocery bags that are quite popular now...
boxed
I bet some one will steal my idea now rolleyes

well, it wants to be anyway. it is one of his better political songs, i think, simply for the fact that the lyrics aren't embarrassing or completely wrong-headed, and the music is pretty good.

which is pretty rare for that type of Prince song, really.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
