Am I the only one here that doesn't like the song "If I was your girlfriend" on Sign O The Times???No matter how much I've listened to it I just can't get into it.I can't believe how this was ever choosen as a single release.Anyone else?

When I first got the album I didn't particularly like the track either. It wasn't untill I heard it live that I really liked it. Now it's one of my favorite Prince tracks.

It's a great great song with incredible lyrics. I always found this song to be amonst the best when it comes to Prince's writing skills. It's brilliant and very brave. Not a lot of men would have the guts to sing the song.

I have listened to it numerous times since the album was released and it just never catches my attention...

This was and is still a classic.
There was a version to this song around '95/'96 that I would love for Prince to release on a Cd. This version is a little different than the original, I think it is Camille's voice on SOTT while the '95/'96 version is Prince(of course one and the same, but different!).

I was one of the people that didn't like this song the first time I heard it. When I was 14 I didn't get it. It's been 8 years since, and I understand it now and love it. The lyrics are brilliant, and I think the music flows very well. It's a very melodic, sophisticated piece of music in my opinion. In all fairness though, I can understand why some people don't like it.

Are you Crazy? That song is Great! Prince's voice is Wild on it and the lyrics are way Cool. What a Great song. Love it,Love it. Maybe you should listen alot more to this song and reconsider. It's Awesome.

You know something I think it's such a Beautiful Love song cause he truly loves the woman and wants to be everything to her and she is Distant and you know something Prince? You can be my girlfriend and I'd tell ya Everything. Well,he says the woman doesn't in a way Feel for him is Cold and he says if he was her Girlfriend would she be closer with him. Get it guys? Prince is Brilliant in his longing for his Girlfriend who is Cold. God,can I feel him.

A Prince classic by far

It's one of the most beautiful lyrics Prince has ever written. It's surely the most beautiful love song of the 80ies. And it's one of the Prince-songs for which I would die 4 (ok, maybe that was a bit pathetic

Stunning song. Loved it from the off and still consider it one of his very best songs. Probably his greatest love song, lyrically. Beautiful heard live, great choice for a single - noone else would have dared, and it came with an awsome B-side. Sussanah was a lucky girl.
