Does It Seem Like Fans Care About The MUSIC or SEX?

As Prince fans it's about his Music and not Sex and Sleeze and Cursing. Seems like some peeps are more interested in who Prince is Dating or Sleeping with and whether he Curses or not INSTEAD of the QUALITY of his MUSIC.

I agree with what you are trying to say, but the words "Fuck" and "Pussy" certainly add some kind of extra power and emotion to the music, because of all the different things people associate with them in their fantasies.

Cursing is not about cursin for the sake of it à la "gangsta hip hop", you have to be very careful about when and how to use it. Cursing can make a song sound stylish and powerful and honest, but it can make a song sound childish at the same time.

Prince always knew how to use these kind of words and I'm disappointed he forgot what his belief in god actually was about and stopped cursing as a result.

Prince's music leads your thoughts into sex. So it's not about the music OR sex. It's about both... wink

On this site, it's definitely a lot about sex. Just last year, I did a "Come ´93" thread at the same time as Hamsterhuey did a "Model says no to Prince" thread. Guess which one got twice as many views as the other. sigh

I was so miffed, I started to go to Housequake too. There they have forums specifically about Prince's music. nod

But I must confess that I usually check out the girlfriends-threads on prince.org, too. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. razz

Additional co-sign. He doesn't have to curse to lead our brains there, though he hasn't been as descriptive as he once was, I think that will change as he gets more comfortable with his faith and pushing its boundaries.

I've patterned my sex life from Prince songs, and I can say, categorically, this has been very, very beneficial to me and the ladies I've dated :p

a lot of us were in a pivotal stage in our sexual development when he rose to prominence-i was thinking about sex and fetish before i got any real action. prince kind of facilitated a lot our imaginations and ushered us into our sexual lives as teens and young adults. What a lot of us did not pay attention to is how prince used sexual/spiritual journeys as similair paths culminating in where he is now. In short, he was the soundtrack to a generation of freaks and now a lot of us are disillusioned by the departure of our pied piper.

Prince's sexual lyrics seem 2 be addressed 2 someone, at least at the time that particular song is written and love has been laced throughout all of the music since, "For You."
I really just look at the sexy stuff as a part of a human man's desires 2 talk about that engagement.
Someone may have an opinion that states that Prince's music is about "Sex," yet 2 me "Sex," seems to be an isolated act that any two people can perform...Prince's lyrics are sensual, which means 2 me that there is passion and spirit in the delivery of the song. cool

Prince is, perhaps, the biggest purveyor of sex in all of music history. Even today he is still continuing his quest for spiritual and sexual perfection. To complain about fans digging the sex part more is silly. Now gett off.

Actually not as many prince songs were about sex as u would think> In the begining I never would have though " I would Die 4 U" was about God until Prince said so.
It seems to me like some people seem to feel that Prince has lost some of his "Mojo" because he no longer sings about sex or cusses, when really princes music is soooo much more than that and to be honest I was never really comfortable with the idea of Prince cussing...I don't know why considering I do a share of it myself lol But if never really struck me as good coming from Prince.
I much preffer Princes sexaul innuendo, and the way he can sound like the dirty part of a mills and boone romance novel in his songs giggle and if Turn Me Loose is anything to go by he hasnt quite got rid of that side to him yet giggle
But as far as Prince chaging up the way he sings...like someone I know said we all have to change and grow and none of us have the same ideals that we had wen we were say 16
We all change, grow and mature and our tastes change somewhat. I will always appreciate Prince's music from things like Dirty Mind to The Cross and PE. At 50 it is probably better that he is not baltantly going around singing about licking pussy lol Let's leave that to Tom Jones lol
Bring on the music woot!

nod I absolutely agree! I'm thankful that our pied piper hasn't left us completely. His music is still very sexy in a more grown-up way. Where he was raw and in-your-face before he is now discreet and sensual. Don't be fooled by his discretion; Prince and sex still goes hand in hand.

There´s no sex in my life and I think he must do what he wants with his private life, so sex doesn´t matter at all for me, in my particular case,I admire him a lot about the musical art and his long and great trayectory.
