Purple Rain 25th Anniversary Tour !?! Is it me or does it seem a little weird that all of these Princely groups have gotten back together and started work on new albums just in time 4 a Purple Rain 25th Anniversary Tour !?! First The Time got back together last year and have been performing in Vegas to get their groove back after many years apart and are currently working on a new cd. Wendy & Lisa who haven't released a cd in 11 years all of a sudden has a new cd. The Family , which never really exisited are together to create a new cd. Sheila is always working on something and is ready to go as soon as the call is made. Prince if you are listening it's TIME to give the people what they want. The cool thing for all of these artist's is that by playing a Purple Rain 25th Anniversary Tour they would be letting all of their fans have access to their new material at the shows by selling their new cd's.Prince this group of people are you truest and dearest friends and after seeing all of these people at The Family Jamm in 2003 it is obvious that they still love you. Prince ... just do it !!! All you have to do is make the call and it will happen.Ain't nuttin but a muffin and U got alot of butter 2 go!

This might have been a good idea if it was 2003, but Prince is popular enough now that he doesn't need a tour based on the Purple Rain brand. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I'm not talking about selling out and repackaging Purple Rain . I am talking about Prince getting back together with a group of friends / musicians that have defined his sound and life.To me this group of people are the reason Prince was so productive during the 80's.During this time period everything Prince wrote and recorded was a masterpiece. Prince was surrounded by a group of peers, not a group of drooling fans that are now part of his new touring band.

But we can join for the recelebration of Purple Rain. And,,,,only those of us that saw Prince on tour in 1984 or 1985 can go to the recelebration. ~honey is b-ing 1 with the 1~

Sometimes $ trumps all reasons yay or nay when it comes to Prince or any of us.
And for all those reasons , while everyone is still reletively healthy here on earth, there are ten times more $'s sitting on table to tip that vote. [Edited 1/14/09 19:48pm]

If Prince can get Apollonia 6 back together, I'd definitely go.
That's a spectacle I wouldn't miss. I'd even break out my black and pink lingerie. (Woo, hoo-oo!) I love a Man who:

Not gonna happen. But I can see the Musicology setlist happening again, with singing 7 out of 9 Purple Rain tracks on most shows and barely doing anything from 3 new albums.

oh geezus ..letitgo!!
the musicology tour was in parts a 20 year anniversary ..this isn't 1984 anymore! SOTT went without a anniversary tour and it's a far superior album than purple rain. 2 NEW albums of prince material r on the horizon let's deal with the NEW music instead of rehasing 25 year old material that's he done OVER AND OVER again in those years of release. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I don't care if he does a 16 year anniversary of Come; I just want the man to do a US tour. I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

I think YOU need to letitgo. The reality is, as long as he's alive, people are gonna be saying "let's do the 30th anniversary, the 40th anniversary, the 100th anniversary". It's his legacy, like it or not. That's part of the price of superstardom. The majority of the world is never going to forget his commercial peak and will always want to hear it. Hell, Patti Labelle almost every show still does Over The Rainbow, and I'm sure Elvis had to do his major hits until he died.

Prince gotta eat too! and he would starve trying to fulfill some fan boy fantasies of Gold Experience or TRC tours. Listen, If they stack the money on his table just right, with the 20’s on one side and the C-notes stacked face down like he likes them, and his accountant says he needed the bread, They would be doing the Purple Rain tour until he died.

But I don’t mind that he doesn’t curse, and I don’t care what he plays really. I buy everything at this point and just feel some music is better than other regardless of when it was created, that’s all.....just like you. But honestly I would stay away from any TRC anniversary tour, but that’s just me.

Nevertheless, be that as it may about SOTT, the general population does not know that and Prince's legacy 100 years from now will be PR.

I agree, PR was obviously a very important part of his career and he should do something to celebrate. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

It's the 16th best selling album of 2008. http://www.mediatraffic.d...albums.htm If you take away the pre-2008 albums from that list, it would be #10 if I'm not wrong.
