True, but you can bet your bottom dollar that if it does get released, there will be a million fans complaining that he's releasing old vault material . Anway, my punt is YES he will release it. I also think he was just teasing and trying to generate some publicity when he said that. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

If it ain't been released yet, it's new to me! So that's all I care about. I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

I'd put it this way. If "The Divine" appearing on "Lotus Flow3r" were a stock, I'd make an investment.
I think that this is all just a part of a carefully constructed campaign to cultivate interest -- not at all unlike declaring that "'The Gold Experience' will never be released." Apparently this song is/was a favorite of his at that time and he was letting people know in a way that embellishes curiosity. To me that's cool insight into his world, even if it does open him up to more criticism from the obsessed that think anyone is a fool that doesn't think like them. Perhaps it's also similar to when Prince declared in 2008 that "Turn Me Loose" was going back into the vault. Didn't really seem worthy of a public announcement at the time, but now we know that he was in the midst of recording "MPLSOUND" and was probably mulling over its inclusion. But "F.U.N.K." could certainly still be part of the plan, right? And to state the smack-you-in-the-face obvious, Prince is quite a bit different than most human-type breathers. Which is big part of the reason that I still follow his career. So, who knows, he may already be working on 2 or 3 newer projects, one of which will contain "The Divine". But, having said that, I doubt that Prince was just taking John Blackwell on a "3-hour tour" and posting his thoughts on some speculative, future work. But no one, no matter how objective, is capable of telling anyone what it is that they'll ultimately think about any of this. And I know that it's tantamount to sacrilege, but what any of us think is not necessarily the truth. But the incredible elasticity of taste surely makes us all feel at times like obvious experts living in a black-and-white world.
