Has Prince ever inspired you to...

...Open your mind? Be it in the context's of Love, Spirituality, God, or accepting others? Has his music or image ever caused you to look at the world somewhat differently or listen with fairness to those that already do?

Why would I give someone I don't even know that kind of power in my life?
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It's not about giving power. Someone can influence some aspect of your life. U can make a profound statement and I can take from it and allow it to impact my life. For eg., I never use to listen to funk/rock/pop really, but because Prince is so diverse he reached this reggae head and now through him, I've come to like music outside of the norm within my culture. Therefore my mind has been opened to other types of music.

You are talking about music. The thread is about things much deeper than that. Anyone who would let a musician influence their feelings about God or spirituality is cuckoo.

What is that supposed 2 mean GNS?
Prince has most certainly inspired me since I was a young girl, however it was my respect 4 Prince that helped 2 encourage my poetry, which is quite different from Prince's style...after all, I don't hear music when I write as Prince does. I do hear beats however. Heart-beats.

For example...this is called, "My Lips." I wouldn't think that U would see a relation 2 Prince's writing within my style...However, My love 4 him is there.

My Lips

My lips are stranded
Like island sand
My lips are bare
As the desert air
Dry of the touch
Of sweetened dew
Rescued by the thought
Of kissing you.~T
