Prince's Depth vs. Prince's Fun

While the music and the lyrics are both important, it's obvious there are those on this site who prefer more emphasis on certain aspects of Prince's music. Some of the biggest contrasts that I've seen are those who want to get on the dance floor, and those who want to listen to something that challenges them. The people that want to dance want a track they can get down to and have fun with. As long as the lyrics aren't naive/immature/ridiculous and the music is funky, they'll enjoy it. Then there are those who want something challenging, something deep, something that makes them think. A strong emphasis on lyrics as well as the music. So, which are you? Or are you both? What are some of your favorite examples? How do you feel about the subject in general?

If you dont agree with me, do it in a nice (respectable) way lol
chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

I'm pretty much both, but I think he does fun better than he does deep. If I'm in a mood to listen to really deep music I'll play some Dylan or Tori Amos or something. He's not my go-to artist for that.

It'll depend on my mood when I choose wat I want to listen to at the time.
Prince knows how to mix it up and he does it well. Can't expect a deep song all the time, though most times his songs are deep, but I wonder why some ppl get so worked up and annoyed when he does a simple, light-hearted song?
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

Hey!!! Mzqueen, u speaking english, i was gettin worried bout ya for a minute.

Rasberry Beret When doves cry etc wasnt that deep but it was clever and different. To me thats "fun" Prince. The songs that sound like everybody else writin and music that dont do nothin interestin but fit in wit club beats or rehash old sounds from past is BORING and Prince a badder cat than that.
Prince deep is TRC SOTT Parade even if I was your girlfriend or adore. Tracks like TBALM aint fun or deep to me.

He conformin and that suit dont never fit him right. fro

Good question..Though I need both. I like to listen to Prince's songs that have strong, intellectual, loving, sexual, meaningful or deep lyrics. And if the song has a funky/good/slamin beat on top of that, then I'm all for it. You know, you can take away Extra Lovable's music and still have a great song because you would still have those lyrics that some people are drawn to. The same with If I Was Your Girlfriend.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Both, but if you think about it,some of his songs are both fun,and have a depth to them. Like 1999,it is a upbeat ,fun, dancy song, but if you really listen to the lyrics, you understand that he was singing about something that was,and might still be of concern to him.
