Yeah, she was. He wrote some really good material when they were together. the man was truly in love.
So much of Emancipation is a love letter to her. It's beautiful stuff. Very deep, very personal, very real expression of love. She changed him. But what they went through was tough for anyone to deal with. Much less a couple in the public eye. I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

I don't think he said she was an Egyptian princess, but said something like they knew each other in another life and thought there was a connection in Egpyt. It's certainly something along those lines, and the princess feature has been commented upon more than once. When she was on TV as a very young girl belly dancing she was introduced as "princess mayte". I'm sure the reference to her being a princess was referred to in the wedding program "coincidence or fate?" too (correct me if i'm wrong), ie. is it a coincidence or fate that he is called Prince and she's referred to as "Princess". Anyway, she isn't a real princess of course, it seems it was adapted as an early stage name and in both the book "Slave to the Rythymn" and the magazine "the Truth" there are references to Mayte/Prince or both of them saying that she/he/both felt a strong connection to Egypt, and believed they had met in a past life in Egypt. The July 98 edition of "the Truth" has an article about Mayte that says that while her mum was a language teacher in Cairo, Mayte was learning to belly dance and she felt she had a stong spiritual link to Egypt. In the book Slave to the Rythymn, during an interview referring to what bought them together Mayte is actually quoted as saying "I beleive in reincarnation. I think there's a connection in Egypt, through my music and dancing." Now I don't know if this was their doing or the press or what, but it seems the "princess" reference and the Egypt connection have become intertwined. I remember as a teenager when the symbol album was released, firmly beliving that she was an egyptian princess. I was young, and the album refers to her in that way, and the film that was released also seems to play up to that image of her being a princess too. It was quite some time before I realised she wasn't of Royal decent.....like I say I was young!!

As for whether Egyptians were black or white or arab - they were all of the above. Ancient Egypt was a melting pot, and they didn't see people in terms of race. You were either Egyptian or you were foreign. That's it. Which is why the colors and races of statues and pantings varies so much. Egypt was truly race-ignorant. I'm sure it was beautiful Eh, not if you were hebrew...

Because you can't get Egyptian cotton textiles without actually going to Egypt? Well, yes you can, but I don't think Prince could order online, for one thing. 200 Egyptian Cotton Manpers (Small) Prince Rogers Nelson 7, That Place In Your Heart United States of Division

Yeah, she was. He wrote some really good material when they were together. the man was truly in love. Many singers wrote some good and powerful material during a breakup too. I guess Prince is different.

I'm sure it was beautiful Ancient Egypt was not a melting pot, as some would want you to think, you are perpetuating a mistruth. I have done extentisive research and studies on my ancestors and suggest that you take a look at this http://www.cwo.com/~lucumi/kemet.html and http://wysinger.homestead...egypt.html...this should clear up a lot of misconceptions some may have on Ancient Egypt and the people

Yes, if Uptown:The Vault is to be believed he went there for 2 weeks in August 2000.
I don't know if he went any time before that but I assume so as The Symbol album especially is full of the Egpytian theme, as are some parts of Graffiti Bridge (notice the egyptian style instruments on Latest Fashion and Thieves In The Temple).
