Thecherryloon	If you could swap one single for an album track.. What would you pick? I always thought Prince's choices of singles kind of sucked sometimes, and they wouldn't ever get any new fans onboard.I'd sit there listening (especially in the 90's) and think this or that would make a great single, so i suppose this is about those lost opportunities to impress. I'd swap hate U for Dolphin.

I'd swap 'Hot wit u' for 'Baby Knows'

I think releasing Baby Knows in Europe would have certainly boosted the album, instead it died a death.

other than that, i think most of his single releases have been the most commercial tracks, which served him well, as they probably drove people to buy the albums which then served to introduce people to the more interesting stuff.

endorphin74	Betcha By Golly Wow for either Sleep Around or In This Bed I Scream... I still have never understood why he released a COVER to celebrate his "emancipation"...Sleep Around was one of those rare new P tracks that EVERYONE I played it for liked...In This Bed I Scream is just vintage P

Well, he did try to release Dolphin as a single didn't he?

The video was played quite a lot on MTV and everytime it
showed they said "will be the new single".

I wonder what went wrong there. It's a kick ass song and I
think that it could have gone really far, esp after the
huge hit of TMBGITW, a lot of people were paying attention
to what he was gonna do. Dolphin would have appealed to a
mass audience and secured him another top 3 hit.

The only problem is that the "Come" album was released after the success of TMBGITW so if people were paying attention they were paying attention to "LetItGo".
