Colonized Mind mistake

If you listen carefully with good headphones at about 2:30 during the chorus, when he says the word 'power' , you can hear a plosive sound where his breath from the 'p' hit the mic and caused a pop!! Maybe next time U record try using a pop filter Princey?? biggrin lol

Many of those who have recorded with Prince have said that making sure everything is mic-ed perfectly is not one of his priorities.

Right? "I'm going to put on these very fancy headphones and see if I can catch any recording mistakes. Because, ya know, I have nothing better to do with my time. geek "

Hey - in my defense I'm a music producer and spend a lot of my time wearing headphones listening for my client's errors to fix -- just something funny I noticed, Prince is human after all!! lol

If anything it adds an original touch. Did Prince plant it there on purpose? Perhaps not but I like it. And that's not because I defend anything Prince, him joining the JW is awful, but this is kind of fun.

I'm sure there is a Bible verse to explain when he meant by it.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

I like when does a quick-and-dirty recording process better anyway. Otherwise, he can have a tendency to overproduce at times. The warts-and-all approach is more interesting, and more from the heart.

There are no mistakes in art.

There can be mistakes in assembling a car, but not in art.

The sky is the limit. If Prince wanted to pop all his P's, he certainly has that artistic license to do so.

Nevermind. I thought the mistake you were referring to was the asinine repudiation of evolution in one of the opening lines.

Ever think maybe.... he wanted it to BE there?

Some artist do that as well.I know a couple artists that do that. I see no problem with it really, makes the song a new experience everytime. nod

That isn't a mistake or pop on the mic; what you are hearing is a vocal effect which utilizes an envelope filter (similar to the effect used on a guitar) patched into his vocal. If you recall, the same effect was used on the lead vocal for the title track to 3121.

Good grief.

Have you ever talked to someone without seeing them? On the phone or whatever? You can tell from the way their voice sounds whether they're smiling or not.

He still hears her voice...even though he can't see her. And he knows she's smiling.

Yeah, it isn't a mistake at all.

One actual mistake that comes to mind is the grammatical error in International Lover where he sings, "We expect a few turbulence along the way." That is just plain wrong.

Prince was young and probably only heard people use the word "turbulence" and probably using contexts clues decided it meant "rough patches in the sky".

Also, he probably never saw the word in print, because, well odds are you really don't see that word in print too often in regular life, (and there wasn't really the internet with dictionary.com or spell check back then), so he may have assumed what people were saying was actually "turbulents"... Thus, implying a "turbluent" as being a rough patch in the sky. The plural of turbulent (turbulent being a noun in this ficticious case) would be turbulents. Meaning there were several rough patches in the sky that he was expecting.

I give Prince a pass on this one and a noble attempt at using context clues.

On the other hand, at age 50+, there is no excuse for mplsound.com
It is mplssound.com
Plain and simple.
mplsound.com would stand for either MPL Sound or MPLS Ound.
He's missing an "s".

Wow. Interesting.

www.mplsound.com is no more.

I suspect Prince read my previous posts about this, agreed, and got rid of it.

He couldn't admit he was wrong and just register mplssound.com and give me the credit, so he registered lotusflow3r.com instead.

Who'da thunk I'd ever have a direct effect on a Prince decision?

Also, if we want to talk about "mistakes" (which I don't believe there are really mistakes in art)...

How about at the end of Eye Hate U (either the album version or the extended version, I can't remember) during the guitar solo at the very end... The chorus comes in for a super-brief second and then is taken out. Like a punch-in gone wrong...

But of course, that could have been on purpse.

spit I tend to be the person in my circle of friends shouting "It's artistic license" when people bitch about grammar in songs. But this one just chafes my hide. disbelief
A few turbulences? uuuurg.
That doesn't make sense!
