"Grandma's tongue"....could be a new song for Prince!

It reminds me of really bad muzak covers of good songs or the worst type of schmaltz. It's a bit "Islands in the Stream" (no offense to DP). Also, his vocals are not as good as usual and the text is ridiculously contrived (sea of tranquility, other astronomy references). It is one of the very few songs i have had no period of liking whatsoever. I'll forgive him anything for the B-side, though!!

Awww this is a great song as it deals with the themes of love and loneliness set against the blank, impersonal canvas of the planets, moon and stars.

Prince is personifying the universe as the Arms of Orion become a person with arms that protect us and comfort us. This is classic poetry imagary and beautifully done.

It deals with the subject of loneliness and how human beings contect on all different levels, spiritually, emotionally, physically, etc.. It's about loving someone even though your way of life and way of seeing things is 'world's apart' from that person.

Yes it does sound like that but it's obviously supposed to be Adult Contemporary smash and misses so badly.

I like this song.I have no problem with big,schmaltzy ballads.I love alot of those 70s soft rock songs by the likes of Barry Manilow,Olivia Newton John,etc...you know,those big,schmaltzy songs that people make fun of...lol...I love em!
